Buzz In: What Dead or Long-Gone Characters Should Return?

Tonight, Dr. Mark Greene returns to County General for a very special episode of ER. Once ER's leading man, Anthony Edwards left the show in 2002 to pursue other opportunities but was persuaded to come back in this final season to help the show bid farewell. Dr. Greene (thankfully) won't be returning as a ghost, instead appearing in a flashback for Dr. Cate Banfield (Angela Bassett).

Greene's reappearance — and the frequent gossip about whether George Clooney will also return to the show — has gotten me thinking about other dead (or merely long-gone) characters I'd love to see return to TV shows currently on the air. Grey's Anatomy certainly hasn't been stingy with bringing back Denny Duquette, but I wouldn't cry about a repeat appearance from Dylan the bomb guy. What about you?

I'm hoping that Denny has made an encore in order to take Izzy back with him. Her storyline is dead so her character should follow suit. One can hope...

I've still never seen the complete first season of Grey's. It sneaked into my viewing back when it followed Desperate Housewives, but I got hooked with the 2nd season. However I don't know everything about Denny and Bomb guy. I feel like a lot of the hot shows on the air just haven't been on long enough to have some distant character from the past come on. ER has had a humongous run, and for one of their old characters, from when the show was huge, to come back to the show--that wouldn't be easy to top.

I want to see Addison come back to Grey's! I love her character, but I could never get in to Private Practice for some reason.

i know the OC is over, but i wish they hadn't killed marissa. i know everyone hates mischa barton, but i think her character had severe emotional problems that were vital to the core of the show. her drama was one of the reasons i tuned in religiously. plus she was ryans soulmate, taylor was NOT. when she was gone in season 4, the show just kinda lost its appeal

I LOVE Dylan the bomb guy. But I really can't think of any storyline that would work to bring him back. If they're dead, they should stay dead. They shouldn't have killed him in the first place. ;)

I know Isiah Washington said some unforgivable things and the bridges have been burnt, but I would LOVE to have Dr. Burke back on Grey's. I loved his character and him and Christina's relationship. Denny's ghost on Grey's is useless and only makes people wish he wasn't dead...but he is so what's the point?

I don't think Denny's continuing appearances work all that well, so I'm curious to see how well they make it work on ER. I'm not expecting too much though, from the little I've heard, it sounds like a slightly disordered season of guest shots.

well sometimes you have to wonder what the reason is for bringing people back - if it's to boost ratings or whatever it is. i think that sometimes people are just better left to be off the show since there's such an evolution of what things have become. it's just a bit out of place, but i guess if the producers want to have more of an audience towards the end of the run then that's one way to do things.

Shannon from Lost. I think I was the only person who liked her, but I did. She was so bitchy and funny and entertaining.

Honestly, none of them. I think it gets a little cheesy when shows do this. Like on Grey's, I wish they'd stop it with the Denny thing. Let the story line die already!
