Buzz in: Tell Me Why You Love True Blood

Over the past few months, it's become clear just how big True Blood's fan base is. You all are devouring the minisodes, posters, and trailers in anticipation of the Season 3 premiere in June. Here at Sugar HQ, the loyalty to the show isn't quite as unflappable; certain Buzz editors are absolutely in love with the show while others still need a little convincing. It can be hard to get past the gory (albeit campy) vampire attacks and the in-your-face sex scenes can be a bit jarring at first watch. This is why I'm turning to you all to convince the naysayers to hop on the "bad things" train. So tell me — why do you love True Blood?

I agree Reesiecup! Its one of the few series where I like the books as much as the show. Although I would've cast Sookie a little different, don't get me wrong I like Anna Paquin, but Sookie is supposed to be way hotter and much more buxom! I'm on the Eric drool train too, can't wait for Quinn and Amelia!

The characters are well-developed, the dialogue witty and sometimes sardonic. I love how the storylines are close to the book but different enough to keep me guessing. And lastly and above all: hot hot manjoyment. I'm looking at you, Eric. I can't wait to see Alcide. Oh and please Mr. Ball, throw in some Quinn!

I am a fan of Twilight and Vampire Diaries but I like how True Blood is real and raunchy! They don't sugar coat things and then men are hot and we get to see a lot more of them! :)

P.S. Buzz you should definitely consider doing recaps of True Blood episodes. I tried to watch The Vampire Diaries, I watched the marathon and gave it about 6 or 7 episodes before I gave up on it. It's terribly cheesy and too bad too because I love Kevin Williamson's work usually--grew up with all of his movies and Dawson's Creek.

OMG let me count the ways. First of all Lafayette! He's hot and hilarious! 2nd, the whole thing is just campy, scary, comedic, and bizarre..and with southern charm! It's just the combination of everything, it's quite a unique show. And yes it's really raunchy and sometimes gory, I could definitely do without those but they don't make or break the show. I wouldn't miss it for the world.

I love True Blood because: 1. Hot guys 2. Hot Vampires 3. I read the books and felt the need to compare and contrast the books to the show.
Is there room for one more on that Eric bandwagon? I like the show over all, but if not for my hopeless crush on Eric I would not have stayed with this show. The Maenad story line was sooo bad it hurt to watch. Eric was all that got me through. The Godric story line was just amazing as is Sookie's wet Eric dreams TEEHEEHEE
The books are AMAZING and the show brings the books to life in a way that does them justice. It is vampires as they should be. The characters are so interesting that you can't stop watching!

I LOVE THE CHARLAINE HARRIS BOOKS! It's like Twilight for adults! I don't even care for Twilight anymore - it's all TRUE BLOOD! xox

Jumping on the Eric bandwagon here (shocker). Actually, most of the characters are pretty great, and I like that they're all just a little off in some way that makes them interesting. It's also funny, and as mentioned before, doesn't go all Twilighty ridiculous on you. And I like the Southern sensibilities and pacing.

There's a number of reasons: Eric, weird characters with weird habits, the music (always good selections that go with the show/setting), Eric!, it's as hilarious as it intense (does Jason make anyone else just crack up?), it's bloody, and... hmm... Eric :drool:

3 words... Eric and Sookie! =) Plus, if one has read the books, you just realize how amazing and funny this whole Sookie-verse is. It's a really fun way to escape.
