Buzz-Worthy Video: SNL Wants to Know What Burn Notice Is

Saturday Night Live's recent game show skits haven't killed me the way the old Jeopardy ones with Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek did — until this weekend, when Ashton Kutcher hosted.

Saturday Night Live's recent game show skits haven't killed me the way the old Jeopardy ones with Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek did — until this weekend, when Ashton Kutcher hosted. The game is called "What Is Burn Notice?" and based entirely on the notion that despite the USA show's popularity, no one really knows what Burn Notice is about.

SNL gets a lot of mileage out of the somewhat vague posters, promos and titles of the show, which I hadn't really pinpointed before (but now that they have, how many other shows fall into this category? I can think of a few). Guesses from the stumped contestants include premises like "a sexy doctor who can start fires with his mind," and "the detective team Michael Burn and Chet Notice."

Even if you do, in fact, know what Burn Notice is, you'll definitely get a kick out of the skit when you read more

What to Netflix

What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays.

All of the new DVD releases hit stores (and Netflix) on Tuesdays. So each week in What to Netflix: New DVD Tuesday, I sort through the best of the batch and tell you what to add to your queue. In addition to my selections below you can also add Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail, Everwood: Season Two, and The Secret Life of the American Teenager: Season Two to your queue.

Friday the 13th
The Friday the 13th remake was a smash hit at the box office when it debuted in theaters a little while back. The duo who brought you the Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot, Michael Bay and Marcus Nispel, bring the creepy story of Crystal Lake back to the big screen (which you can now play on your small screen).

Here's how Netflix describes the plot: "Ignoring the warnings of the locals, a group of teenage camp counselors takes on the job of reopening Camp Crystal Lake — on Friday the 13th no less, and raise the ire of Jason Voorhees (Derek Mears), a masked, homicidal maniac."

The weather may be nice these days but many people still love watching a scary movie from the comfort of their own home. Plus, the DVD includes special features: deleted scenes and a featurette about exploring "the rebirth of Jason Voorhees for a new moviegoing era."

TV Tonight: Burn Notice and Royal Pains on USA

A lot of action is going down on USA tonight, where one of the shows on my Summer TV top 10 makes its season premiere — and a brand new series debuts right after.

A lot of action is going down on USA tonight, where one of the shows on my Summer TV top 10 makes its season premiere — and a brand new series debuts right after.

The first is Burn Notice, the slick, Miami-set spy show that's become a big hit for USA over the past couple of years. This season finds super-spy Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) breaking free of the people who burned him, trying to negotiate the world on his own terms again — and, undoubtedly, causing a little trouble along the way.

The second is Royal Pains, about Dr. Hank Lawson (Mark Feuerstein), a medical superstar who suddenly finds himself making house calls to the rich and famous in the Hamptons. It's the sort of premise that might have worked better when people still, y'know, had money — but hey, we're still watching Real Housewives, so why not give this a shot?

You can check out previews for both shows — plus a funny clip in which Michael Westen welcomes Hank Lawson to the USA family — if you read more
