Brad Pitt may finally have a reason to shave that beard! The actor has signed on for The Tiger, a film adaptation that he's been secretly developing with Darren Aronofsky since last year. Based on an upcoming novel by John Vaillant, the story centers on an animal activist (Pitt) who must protect his small Siberian town after a series of tiger attacks. Screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga, who worked with Pitt on Babel, is coming on board to help with the script; no word yet on if Aronofsky will direct.

Hmm, a Russian accent and working with animals — this could either spell disaster, or a really great Oscar-caliber film. So, which is it going to be, folks?
