Box Office: Audiences Still Lovin' Marley

After breaking Christmastime records last week, audiences once again put the adorably naughty pup in the top spot at the box office over the weekend. Marley & Me, starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson, earned an estimated $24 million "for a cume of $106.5 million in only 11 days."

In second place came Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories followed by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in third, Valkyrie in fourth and Yes Man in fifth.

Another unusually great weekend for the box office during the holiday season! What did you check out this first weekend of the new year?

I saw Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Marley & Me last week. Both made me cry my eyes out at the end, for different reasons, but Benjamin Button was definitely superior. Marley & Me was just mediocre.

I saw Button for the second time last night and I picked up on somethings that I missed out on last time and it's still a truly beautiful movie although I still think there is just one scene I think they could really do without. I also saw Slumdog. Unlike last year's Juno, I actually get Slumdog and see why people are going crazy over it. Everyone who actually likes movies and not just looking for an instant gratification should see movies like these.

I saw Benjamin Button... it was good, but I was annoyed by how it tried to do too much and as a result wasn't as good as it could have been.

I saw a couple of small movies this weekend: Happy-Go-Lucky and I've Loved You So Long. I loved the second one in particular!

i still haven't gone to see marley, but i did see benjamin button and was pleasantly surprised (although it was a bit long and they could have cut out a lot). anyway, it's nice to see that the holiday movies are still bringing in a lot of $$ given the economy :) that's good news for the studios right?
