Devil in the White City is a great read. Particularly if you live in Chicago and/or familiar with the area. Through this book i found out that all my favorite buildings in Chicago were built by Burnham, ironically all contenders for my wedding reception. The Holmes part of the book is intriguing and the author did phenomenal research to piece together a story that was not well documented at the turn of the century. My sister read it first and recommended it to me, once the weather turns nice we are going to do a day of going to all the sites in the book.

I'm surprised The Passage by Justin Cronin hasn't made any of your lists. It's an amazing read and I'm almost positive supposed to be turned into a film.
