Billy Baldwin Cast as Serena's Dad on Gossip Girl — Discuss!

This is sort of a weird, wild surprise: '90s heartthrob (and Alec's little brother) Billy Baldwin has been cast as Keith van der Woodsen — Serena's dad!

Yes, the as-yet-unseen (except for in that '80s flashback) Gossip Girl character will be played by Baldwin, who was last on Dirty Sexy Money. Though he's aged a bit, he was quite the hot thing back in the day (remember that the term "Baldwin" meant hot guy in Clueless slang?).

I guess I'd just assumed that Serena's dad — the object of her pursuit this season — would be played by an unknown, so I'm pretty amused by this casting. I think Baldwin can totally pull off the smarmy but charming traits necessary for daddy van der Woodsen. But enough about me — what do you think?

yeah the guy in the flashback was definitely blonde! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1204778/ however, i think it could be potentially good casting he was perfect in DSM! and other than casting an unknown, i can't think of any blonde actors who would've been a good casting? can anyone else?

huh - that's an interesting one - but i think that it could be good for BB. we've seen a lot of him lately with various reality shows - so here's to hoping that he'll be good.
