The premise for this movie is actually kind of funny (I mean, if you ignore the emotional toll this would take on your loved ones): In 1938 a Tennessee recluse named Felix "Bush" Breazeale staged his own funeral so he could be around to enjoy it.
Now the story will be adapted for the big screen, with Bill Murray and Lucas Black signed on to play partners at the funeral home. Robert Duvall and Sissy Spacek are also starring in the film which has the title Get Low. But here's the super weird part: Variety claims the movie will be a "period dramatic thriller." A thriller? Really? I figured this would have more of a Waking Ned Devine-esque feel to it — dark and funny with adorable elderly guys.
It's pretty morbid stuff but then again, many people wonder what their funerals will be like. . . Right? Maybe it's just me. Of course I would never stage the thing (can you imagine?!), but I'm very curious to see a movie about someone who actually did.

I love Bill Murray. He can do anything and I'd like it. Growing up, my dad worked allllll the time (he still does actually) and conveniently, my bro was obsessed with the Ghost Buster movies and whenever he'd watch them I'd kiss the screen as a kid because I thought Bill Murray was my dad (they could be twins, the 1980s Bill Murray, anyway.) Either way, a nice charming story to go along with a guy that has such a horrible reputation when it comes to working with him... but hey, at least hes not Christian Bale.
1Not sure I want to see this movie, but I do love Bill Murray.
2I'm in for anything Bill Murray does!
3I love the idea!!! I'm a black humor kinda girl and I love Bill Murray so I'm totally in!
4Le romantique, Chistian Bale has set a new (and very high) bar in "doucheness" on set.
5*has set a new (and very high) bar for.
6My grandfather was the funeral director/undertaker (though not much undertaking to do that day) who planned the funeral. I guess his "partner" would be my uncle. There were in actuality a number of peripheral interesting characters who could have been incorporated into the story, but it would then have to be a series.
7I am the great great niece of Felix Bush Breazeale the man this movie is based on and I am very upset that they would take a wonderful mans life and make a "thriller etc" out of it. I want to know who gave them permission to use his name and life to make the movie. My grandmother (his niece) would tell me wonderful stories about him and his trained mule. Uncle Bush kept the coffin at the foot of his bed until the day he died and then they buried him. He was a great man and I pray this movie is not made but if it is that they do it justice and not turn it into a mockery of his life.
