The first Hobbit movie premieres this month, after years of development drama. We'd known early on that director Peter Jackson was splitting up Tolkien's epic novel into two movies, but it was just this Summer that he announced that The Hobbit will actually be three movies. Time will tell if Jackson really needed a trio of two-hour-plus films to tell Bilbo Baggins's story (and whether we'll all be able to keep those three different titles straight).
