I refuse to vote for any of those albums that are so very forgetable, the best albums of the year are Gorillaz´´Plastic Beach, Chemical Brothers´ Further, MGMT´s Congratulations, The Orb´s Metallic Spheres and Vampire Weekend´s Contra

Ummm...no mention of Rah Digga's "Classic" album, but the (decent, yet clearly inferior to anyone who knows even a modicum of anything about Hip Hop) Nicki Minaj album's on here? #assbackwards
Cee Loa has to be taken off the list. It's not his debut, and its not a breakout (he's the lead singer for Gnarls Barkley). Still, pretty good album from him. Tough to pick, best coast, drake, broken bells, and janelle monae are all more than deserving.

Breakthrough albums? I'm sorry I didn't know you could make a breakthrough in something that doesn't take more than 15 minutes to make. Anyway my choice isn't on the list obviously. I'm gonna have to say Immolation's Majesty And Decay. Fail list is fail.
No Vampire Weekend? Their songs are all over commericals now. Or Phoenix. "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" was the breakout hit of the year!
i like Drake and Cee Lo (he's been releasing albums since the 90s,debut-no)but i kinda liked Broken Bells
Who came up with these album nominations? Janelle Monae is far and away the best one though. Cee Lo's album is lacking, but still pretty solid. Everything else is either horrible or merely mediocre.
Janelle Monae is actually a talented singer and one of the most unique talents in all of music, look past Tightrope, theres more to be had that wouldn't be played on radio.

Let's see, Goodie MOb "Soul Food" created quite a buzz in the hip-hop world when it was first released (of which he was a member). Cee-Lo also received strong reviews for his first two albums. His Gnarls Barkley album garnered him a lot of recognition and a ubiquitous single. I think you could really look to any 4 of these as a breakthrough album.
yeah, thats Cee Lo's third solo record, not entirely breakthrough Went with Best Coast though, great record!

"A breakthrough album is the first from an artist to receive considerable attention, doesn't necessarily have to be their first." In that case, what about The Black Keys. Cee Lo has been around since the early 90's, and I'm pretty sure he had two solo albums before doing Gnarls Barkley.
