The Harry Potter Series
I was actually a late bloomer with my love for Harry Potter, but I fell hard and fast for J.K. Rowling's captivating books and subsequent films. I read the entire series over a Summer, and thoroughly enjoyed every page of the seven books as they progressed from light, fun, easy reading to the heartbreaking, beautiful finale. Side note, I sobbed through most of the final book. The characters are complex and loveable (or hateable, depending on who we're talking about), and Rowling does such an impressive job at immersing you in her fantastical, mysterious world that you can't help but dream it all really exists. I would even, boldly, say she earns a spot beside Tolkien in that regard. The series is funny, smart, sweet, and, yes, magical. I'd recommend it to anyone, whether you're 5 or 85.
