Avatar vs. Titanic — Which Is Better?

As Avatar continues to annihilate the competition at the box office, the comparisons to James Cameron's other baby, Titanic, are bound to come up. Not only is Avatar on track to threaten Titanic's title as the biggest money maker of all time, but my dear friend Molly pointed out that both Avatar and Titanic received an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer. I know that they are totally different movies, but just for fun, which movie do you think is better?

avatar is better it has a better story it haS more meaning it relates to indigenous people, it covers colonisation and covers a lot more theme from a creative stand point it more avatar is a lot better. you need a story to write down before you make a movies so it's the story that makes the movie great. pple seem to say it sell because of the visual effects you need more than that.

Titanic for sure! I've loved it since I was 9 years old when it came out and it's still my all time favorite movie to this day! I'm sorry but Avatar does nothing for me, I haven't seen it all the way through yet but the parts I saw were boring. Titanic is a classic and even watching it today the CGI still blows me away! It's such an incredible movie. I've seen it SO many times over the years and I still love it so much. It's always gonna have a special place in my heart. I don't care that Avatar is the highest grossing movie ever now, Titanic deserves its #1 spot.

I was twenty years old when Titanic came out. I was neither young nor impressionable. The movie was amazing. I watched it again a few months ago and I marvelled at how amazing it still is. It ages beautifully. As a 33 year old female, I have no desire to see Avatar. I can't get past the sheer ugliness of those creatures. Titanic gets my vote.

Titanic was based on True Events yet it had Fictional Characters, Avatar didnt even happen and i thought the movie was sucky as hell so Titanic has my vote on this one

TITANIC, Avatar will NEVER catch up with titanic, Kate Winslet is my Fav Actress along with Leo being my fav Actor. so my vote goes with TITANIC!!!!!

of course,,nothing would ever ever defeat TITANIC..it's the best of the best,,the most romantic, the most tragic,,the best characters,,the best lines,,the best acting,,the best soundtrack,,etc..OR SIMPLY THE BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!!!!

I haven't even seen Avatar yet. But my dad, the huge Sci Fi fan, saw it and said it blowed. The effects were amazing but the story was bland. And really, even if it is good, NOTHING will ever top Titanic. It's a masterpiece in every way. Even if it didn't have the most convincing Titanic set ever (which it SOOOOO does), the story and plot has a lot of heart and effort, so Titanic will always be #1 in my book! Who ever voted for Avatar probably just voted for it just for the special effects and CGI. But effects don't make a movie. Heart, effort, and plot does. For example, what's better? The Terminator, or 2012? 2012 had amazing effects, and was an O.K. movie, while the Terminator has O.K. effects (good for its time), but was an amazing movie.

I think that i've watched titanic at least a 100 times.Although it seems that Avatar is much better at first,i got bored of it when i watched it the 3rd time.

Titanic is the best movie in the world... The only reason Avatar made more money than titanic is because movie tickets are way too expensive now 13 years ago movie tickets were like 5 bucks now they can go up to 10 so if the movie prices would have been the same titanic would have won i did not really like avatar because its too fake for me and titanic is perfect i cried everytime i saw it and i went about 9 times to the movie theathers to see it Titanic all the way

I just saw Avatar on Blu-Ray. To me it had nice graphics but did anyone here played the Final Fantasy video games? I was not too impressed with the graphic and the idea because it resembled too much of the Final Fantasy games. Also the floating mountains are copied from Japanese manga and video games of the past. The story was weak. I don't like it.

like someone said above, avatar is to much like pocahontis. not only is titanic is sort of a true story, it is also very hard to let go. its really sad how jack died with the ship (like thousands of others)and it gives a good feeling of how scary it is. i just found avatar to not give me any of these feelings.

I have to admit- I did not care for Avatar. It wasn't bad, by any means, but it wasn't my kind of film. (It's the bias in me speaking, I know, but it wasn't my favorite genre.) Secondly, for the most part, special effects mean nothing to me (so I prefer neither film on that basis). Thirdly, as it was said earlier, I didn't get quite the emotional pull. Titanic had the advantage simply because the tragedy actually occured, but I do feel that it did a better job (overall). It also had the advantage of a great sountrack- I believe that James Horner also did the music for Avatar- but I was far more impressed by the Titanic soundtrack (and I'm not just speaking on the behalf of My Heart Will Go On here, just for the record). All in all, it must sound like I'm being a complete whiner. I don't mean to be but, for me, Titanic had more of what I look for in a move than Avatar did.

I absolutely loved Avatar...i thought it was amazing in every way, but Titianic has always been my childhood and teen years favorite movie. Titanic will always beat out avatar!

I was 8 year old when I seen Titanic in the year of 1997. I luv it, and I seen Avatar too. Both of the movie is very sad. I can't just say Avatar is better than Titanic. So I pick Titanic. I still luv both of the movie

As insane as this sounds, I actually watched Titanic for the first time a week before Avatar. I loved Titanic so much more. Avatar had amazing graphics, but Titanic had an amazing story, amazing characters, and made me much more emotional than Avatar did.

i hate avatar. and its not because im a girl. its because NO movie will ever top titanic. im going to say it again...NO MOVIE WILL EVER TOP TITANIC. ive senn titanic 67 times. and yes i cry everytime i see it. its so sad and i could never imagine anyone loving someone else as much as jack loved rose. avatar is just plain stupid.
