Viewers from all circles could relate to this on some level, whether you're a tree hugger or simply enjoy sci-fi fan. A movie that speaks to everyone should win Best Picture. Miss Shapes 3 years The Hurt Locker, every time. This is a classic case of commerce winning over art. The Globes are notoriously guilty of this. As Ricky himself noted during the show. Renees3 3 years i thought it was deserving. It was an amazing movie. I've seen two of the others and I think Avatar was much more memorable than them and it's a movie that I would see again where as with the others not so much. That to me is a sign of an awesome movie. suziryder 3 years Not surprised, given how political these awards are, and how much they're based on advertising and buzz and not the actual merits of the film. But very disappointed. I liked the film, but it doesn't deserve this, nor did Cameron deserve best director. theironist 3 years Up in the Air was the best movie of the year, no question. Nay impressed. Mme Hart 3 years I thought both Precious and Inglorious Basterds were MUCH more deserving. lizlee89 3 years I just can't believe that in a year of Precious AND Inglorious Basterds (I haven't seen the other two so I can't speak for them, but I am pretty sure at least The Hirt Locker was better); this moderately interesting, insanely over-hyped rip-off of Pocahontas... magalaya 3 years This movie was 90% special effects and 10% plot. It really disappoints me to see that spectacle imagery is taking precedence over well-written, more nuanced films. stephley 3 years Excitement over content. I'm sorry it won, but not surprised. msmoney23 3 years Hmmm, due to the amount of money and press Avatar has received, I'm not surprised at its winning. I think it deserved it.
