You may recall that Amy Sherman-Palladino, the creator behind Gilmore Girls, left the show shortly before its final season because of disagreements with Warner Bros — but now, she reveals in a recent interview that she'd like to bring back Lorelai and Rory to the big screen!
I hope that some Hollywood studios are listening, and take her up on her suggestion. While it's just a wish of hers (and mine) at the moment, I miss the pop culture quips and sweet relationship moments that the Gilmore women delivered each week. A movie version probably wouldn't be a box office blockbuster, but I'm sure it would help satisfy GG fans who felt disappointed when Sherman-Palladino wasn't around to tie up the show's loose ends when it was still on TV.
Do you agree? Or do you think it's better to leave Gilmore Girls dead and buried?

Yes! Absolutely! I miss GG.
1I don't think I could get myself to pay $13.50 to see that. Maybe if it was on tv I'd watch it.
2Yes, yes, yes!
3I want Luke & Lorelai to be married & maybe have a kid.
Rory to be some big shot journalist & of course lot's of mother/daughter duo moments.
I miss this show. Didn't have time to watch it during my college years but was able to catch up on some reruns a while back. It'd be interesting to see what the next chapter would be about.
4YES! But only if Amy writes it. But better than a movie, they should just bring the show back, daily. I sure miss those girls...
5yeah, this is one of my favorite shows! it was very well written and just had some great mother/daughter moments, i'd def. watch it if it were made into a movie.
6I loved that show so much, but I can't bear to see it on the big screen. The cutesiness and format of it worked best on a tv screen.
7I would prefer if it were a made for TV movie. While I would shell out the $$$ to see Gilmore Girls on the big screen, I just don't think it would work. And it would HAVE to be Amy writing it and all that, because someone else might screw it up and we'd have a disaster.
But honestly, I want to know what the last 4 words of the show were supposed to be!!! (Which is also the main reason Luke wanted to do a movie, haha)
8You know I'm torn on this. My first thought was "heck yes!" but now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it would work. I mean two straight hours of "I love Luke, I hate Luke, I love Luke, I hate Luke" would most definitely get old... and add to that Ms. Entitled to Everything Rory would probably spend a good 90 minutes whining that she hasn't won her Pulitzer yet... you know... for her blogging skills...
I loved the show but the whole last season just left a bad taste in my mouth and the way they ended it was so unsatisfying that I think even a movie couldn't undo the damage.
That being said, if it is made into a movie, I'd rent it, just so I could see what Amy conjures up.
9Yay, as long as it's with the original cast!
10With Amy writing it..it would be amazing! GG deserves its proper ending. And the whole last season of the show was just kinda blah because it wasnt Amy writing anymore..it would be a good do over!
11Not on the big screen, please! If they did a made for tv movie, like someone else mentioned, I'd be down. Shesh, I'd record it on my dvr and probably watch it a couple of times.
I loved that show and still watch reruns pretty continuously but I just don't think a big
budget movie would be the way to do it. Just me, but I would rather something smaller that gave us an update on the characters and great things like that.
12I have been thinking about GG a lot lately because I'm watching an episode or two each night. It think JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT should play Rory´s boyfriend. They would be so cute together!
13I would love a movie but I think it would only work on TV, even with a loyal fan base I don't see it being a hit at the cinema and I'm not sure if I'd pay to see it.
ITA Luke & Lorelai need to be married and Rory a famous journalist but maybe still single. That way they could bring back Dean and her other past boyfriends for cameo appearances.
I just hope Amy doesn't screw it up like she did the end of season 6!
14As a loyal fan, I would totally pay to see this in theatres.
15I'd pay, as long as it was same cast, same original writers and kind of fast-forwarded in time, so that luke was with lorelai already or something and we don't have a 2 hour movie where she's still indecisive and they get married at the end. I really miss this show and all the characters. Is there anyway it could be a 4-part episode thing like they do with Jane Austen's novels on BBC? lol. I know it's wishful thinking, but I think even a 2 hour movie wouldn't do it justice enough for me, it's too short.
16RyanRachelFan-I totally agree with JGL!! I love him.
17i can't decide... because i love the show , but i don't think for someone who didn't watch the show will like 2 hours of lorelai and rory.
18maybe for the tv, and like Jane Austen's novels on BBC will really cool
I loved Gilmore GIrls. I still love to catch a rerun when I can.
19One of my fav all time shows, so I definitely say YES! I would pay to see it on the big screen, but it would probably do better on the smalls screen.
20i really love this show, but i just don't think there would be enough for a movie. i mean, i can only take so much of lorelai/rory, lorelai/luke, lorelai/her parents, rory/boyfriends, etc....
21I wonder if Alexis would be willing to do it. In interviews she sounded like she was really tired of Rory and relieved when the show ended.
22Yes, bring the girls BACK!!!
23i stopped watching the show because it was getting too drawn out and boring. I lost interest right around the time rory dropped out of school and all that craziness
24I am all for a Gilmore Girls movie...as long as they bring back Logan, too!
25Hmm. I dunno. I love me my GG's but a movie? I think I would watch a made for TV one. And Rory just annoyed the heck out of me from season 5 to the middle of 7.
26A thousand times yes! I agree that made-for-TV sounds perfect.
27YES! Insane
28Please please please please....?
29Yes, as long as Amy writes it and the cast of characters are the same.
30I would pay to see the movie although I think it would be better to just make more seasons. I mean if they can make a stupid cartoon where you can't understand the characters (south park) have 14 seasons and a lame show about friends living in the city (Friends) have 10 seasons....Gilmore Girls deserves it's seasons! Eight was just not enough. The ending of 8 leaves a wide variety of possibilities with another season. I mean everyone GG fan is dying to know if Lorelai makes it to the alter, if Rory makes it with her mom, if Rory makes it as a journalist. There are so many unanswered questions that need answers. So I vote for a new season. Or a movie.
31I think would be: "Will you marry me?"
32I think that maybe it should go to the big screen, since I'm such a hardcore Gilmore girls fan I'd see it. But i think they should mix it up and bring Jess back because he was pretty darn hot:) but i would love it. I c where some people r coming from that it would take away the innocence of Gilmore. But i think Amy deserves a last shinning moment with her amazing creation that is The Gilmore Girls.
33I would love a Gilmore Girls Movie to happen so it can tie up the loose ends but i would want Rory and Logan to get back together and have Luke and Lorelai or even Christopher and have a double wedding with them two that would be a good way to end it.
34A Gilmore Girls Movie would be fantabulous! It should feature Luke and Lorelai's wedding and Jess coming back into the picture to sweep Miss. Rory off her feet. They way the two of them connected was amazing. Reminds me of my husband and I. Although we have our heated fights...he's my best friend and I wouldn't want to fight with anyone else. Rory and Jess belong together. And I finally want to see Lorelai and Luke get married! PLEASE MAKE THE MOVIE!!!!
