Yet another vampire story is rumored to be coming to the big screen, but this time it's the ladies who are doing the biting. Krysten Ritter (who is normally relegated to the BFF role) is supposedly starring in a romantic comedy called Vamps.
Amy Heckerling, the director responsible for Clueless, is attached to write and direct the story of "two young female vampires living the good life in New York until love enters the picture." I've always enjoyed Heckerling's work and am intrigued to see Ritter finally cast as a lead, but I'm wary of the premise; it sounds like it's just capitalizing on the recent craze. Plus, almost half of you said you were tired of vampire entertainment over the Summer.
At least this does have a unique angle by making the main vampires female for once, not to mention the much lighter tone it'll have. What do you think of this project — is it inspired, or just tired?

I read a lot of vampire books and would love to watch them in the movies. I like these books because they tell good stories, but I don't think this is the case here.
1Amy Heckerling can do no wrong.
2Everything vampire is overdone. Did anyone see Ugly Betty when they wanted to do a vampire model on the cover? Lol
3Vampires will always be something to write movies and books about but we need a break. We are in Vampire overload right now. Give in 3-4 years and it will be acceptable to write about Vampires without others feeling like you would be riding on the coat tails of Twilight and True Blood and so on.
4Did they cast her because they would save money on makeup?
5I will always be a fan of Anne Rice's vampires, but every generation needs a new version. Though Twilight makes me cringe, I will anticipate many more vampire movies to come.
6I love my vampire books (Anne Rice, Charlaine Harris) but I'm over the current vampire craze.
The insane and over the top behavior of the followers of Twilight are killing it for me. I just can't stand those books and the teenage girls that cry over Edward. I love myself some Eric from True Blood but I'd be willing to give up True Blood if it meant all those Twilighters would go away.
7I'm another one of those who are over the vampire craze. I feel like people are trying to treat this as a new thing, but vampire books have been around for a while -hello! Anne Rice!
8i love kristen and amy heckerling is awesome, so i'm excited to see what they come up with!
9I agree with Kazagirl. It's gonna be some time before we see something different involving vampires.
10When a subject is popular Hollywood exploits it until people get sick of it.
I'm all for it. To be honest I don't see how anyone can tire of vampire stories/movies if you are really a fan of the genre. Of course, it all depends on the story and how the movie turns out. Just cause vampire is the premise doesn't mean it's going to do well.
11there has always been lots of vamp movies and shows all threw the years
12the only vampire related movie that is doing something different is DAYBREAKERS. i'm excited for that
13Can we please move on to witches or psychics? If I remember correctly LJ Smith (The Vampire Diaries) has a couple of good series about both. I last read them in high school, but if I remember correctly they were both good.
