Amy Adams to Play Lois Lane — Spot on or So Wrong?

Well folks, our brand new Superman finally has a leading lady! Amy Adams has scored the highly coveted role of Lois Lane, playing opposite Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel.

Adams wasn't the first actress that came to mind back when we brainstormed ideas for the roles (not to mention she's almost 10 years older than Cavill), but there's no doubt that she's got the acting chops to play just about anyone. But I'm curious about how you feel about this bit of casting news, so vote and leave your comments below!

Amy Adams? She's not Lois Lane. She's 36 and Henry Cavill( superman) is 28. She's too old for the part. What if they do sequels? She'll be in her fourties. Smallville did a better job at casting.
I hope they won't ask to dye her hair either ! A red hair and fierce Lois lane …thats what we want ! She's was great in The Fighter and The Doubt !

I like Amy Adams. She's like candy on screen. When you see her, you want to watch more. She's addicting like that. I think she'd make a fantastic new Lois Lane. I hope they don't dye her hair. She's charming the way she is. She's one of the very FEW actresses who can pull off retaining her own hair color for a role that is known for a different one.

Yes I saw the fighter. I saw a character who was supposed to be tough, no-nonsense and Amy Adam had tears in her eyes the entire film. She never maintained eye contact once and she didn't sell the part. She sucked. Melissa Leo was believable. Cristian Bale was spot on and believable. Amy was shaking.

woah, I remember that episode of Smallville vividly and I never realized that was Amy Adams! crazy; how far she's come. ok, first off; I don't love this casting, but she's a great actress and I'm sure she'll be great. second of all, GucciGuilty, did you see The Fighter?! I'm not always in agreement with every Oscar nomination (ahem, Coen brothers), but hers was well-deserved - she was as incredible if not better than Melissa Leo (I kind of thought that she should have won). finally, did anybody else see that she's also playing Janis Joplin in an upcoming biopic??!! forget Lois Lane; that casting is brilliant and I can't wait to see it!

I think she'll be great. She can bring some of that innocent, clueless element from "Enchanted" and "Doubt" to the Lois Lane character
Perfect casting in my opinion. There comes a point where looks just don't matter anymore. Superman has been remade dozens of times now and if every Lois Lane looked the same that would be boring. She's a fresh face, we know she can act already, she can be tough and charming as hell at the same time. Amy Adams is one of the best actresses out there right now, without question. I also feel like it was smart of them to cast a familiar face because a lot of people have no idea who the heck Henry is. If they casted an unknown, I doubt it would do well. I certainly wouldn't be interested and there would probably be buzz about the new girl for a day and then everyone would forget.

I definitely think she has the acting ability to play the role...wonder if they will keep a redhead? I personally love Amy as a blonde as well!

Amy manages to completely transform into any character she plays, so i have no doubt she can handle this. she doesn't look as old as she actually is either. Also, this is a new kind of role for her....i'm totally on board!

What?! I used to watch Superman when I was little - she doesn't look anything like Lois Lane! Selma Blair with her bob would be a good choice...

Spot on. She's already shown she can play pretty much anything, I'm not worried about her as Lois. And for the people saying she's "too old": 1)Rachel McAdams isn't that much younger...so why would she be suitable and Amy not? 2)Please, Amy looks twenty-something 3)Not a stretch to think Lois has been working awhile and is older than Clark. So, relax! The franchise has a gorgeous, 3-time Oscar winner holding the role. That's not a bad thing. At least it's not Bosworth again.
