I can't believe we're down to the final four on American Idol! Where does the time go? So was Wednesday the night our last lady standing headed home, leaving an all-male competition behind? Well, folks, I think this elimination was one of the hardest decisions we've had to make in a long time — I mean, as far as voting for TV talent shows goes — because everyone did such a great job singing standards on Tuesday. Even Simon called performance night the "best show at this stage I've ever seen." Right off the bat, we learned that Allison and Danny were safe, while Kris, Adam, and Matt were in danger. Weird! The judges seemed genuinely stunned. I think they were a little worried Adam could go home.
In the end, they had nothing to worry about, because Adam was, of course, safe (did anyone really think that guy would be out?), as was Kris. Thank goodness — I was way more worried about Kris, as he's really grown on me and I would be sad to see him go just yet. That left Matt, who's had his ups and downs and even a judges' save this season, so I'm not surprised it was his time to go. How sweet/sad was it that he had tears in his eyes? Poor guy. I think Matt has a really good shot at making an album lots of people will want to buy, though, so he'll be OK. Farewell, Matt!
A few more thoughts:
- The slow motion made me laugh in the Ford pimpmercial.
- The top five bakes a cake! That food fight was pretty epic. Danny was a little touchy feely with Allison, don't you think? I wonder if it's weird for these four guys to have kind of inherited a little teenage sister.
- During the tense elimination part when Ryan was splitting the singers up into groups, Danny talked way too much. But now I'm curious: what performers do you think he's studying?
- I don't think Jaimie Foxx's single, "Blame It," translates very well live. What do you guys think?
Shocked Adam was in the bottom? Or was it bound to happen? Are you sad to see Matt go?

1I feel bad for Matt but I think it was his time to go. But man it's really getting down to the wire!
The right one left, I thought the whole Adam thing was funny.
2I saw a bit of Jamie Foxx's performance and i thought he wasn't singing live....and omg Danny should just keep his mouth shut or just go home! he's just so arrogant and i was in shock that he's still in the competition...Adam & Kris till the end!
3Poor Matt. I really liked him, but believe he will do well in his career.
I'm not convinced Adam was truly in the bottom 2. Maybe it was a ploy by the producers to get more people talking about the show? I don't know. Seems more people are talking about Britan's Got Talent rather than American Idol these days.
4I'm shocked that Danny was in the top two and that Adam was in the bottom two [was he really or was it a little bit manipulated by the producers?]. Well, maybe people didn't vote because they were sure he's safe.
5It's a shame that Matt went home already. It should have been Danny.
I'm glad that Allison was surprisingly appreciated by the voters. She should be in the final with Adam.
Wow, Kris has never been in the bottom 3/2. And it's like nobody even notices how strong he is in the competition. He may surprise us all and win this whole thing.
Danny's never been in the bottom 3 even though no one here (myself included) seems to like him much. Who's voting for him?

7I actually have some friends and family that like Danny but they feel bad for since his wife died right before auditions and that is why they are fans. FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS.

Agree with you ktc! They never said this is your bottom 2 so I think it should have been Kris and Matt, but they know they don't have a show without Adam. I think they wanted to let his fans see that you still have to pick up the phone and vote. This was the same week Fantasia was in the bottom!

Anyway, I think putting Adam in a position to make us think he was going home was a scam and a way to create drama...I really do.
9I'm from the UK and I watch it on ITV2 and for me the only three that have stuck out for me are Kris, Allison and Adam. The other two...I don't even know their names. They're pretty forgettable. So I'm glad one of those two have gone. Hopefully those three will be in the final.
10i would rather listen to a dying cat than adam lambert.
11III am a total DANNY supporter. I hope he takes the whole thing! He has a confident stage presence, and the way Kara described him -- possessing a "swagger" was dead-on. It makes no difference to me that he has a sad story behind him; the guy is talented!
2nd for me is Kris -- he's adorable and I love his Jason Mraz vibe.
I agree with snarkypants - Adam is just dreadful; his constant wailing and screaming is like nails going down a chalkboard. SHUDDER.
12As far as Adam goes, remember that there is a huge part of our country who will vote against him because he is gay. His talent becomes irrelevant. I am not suprised that we are starting to see some of that.
13I think that Kris and Adam were not even in the bottom 3 really.. I think they did that so people would panic and vote a lot more for them next week. Seems probable to me.. considering most people are hoping the final 2 is them-
14My sister and I dont like Danny much either. I like everyone left except for Danny, even though I liked him so much at the beginning. MY dad thinks he is going to win cause of his wife dying.
15Kris wears a lot of plaid.
Danny has the sympathy/religious vote so I guess that makes for a pretty big fanbase. I really hope he's the next one to leave, but I think that's just wishful thinking. I'd be shocked if he didn't make the finale. I don't believe he deserves to be there, but I'd be shocked if he weren't there. Ugh.
I think Kris has surpassed Adam as my favorite. I still love Adam, but I was freaking out about Kris being in the bottom. I really want a Kris/Adam finale with either one taking it.
Still trying to figure out how Taylor won. In a season that had Chris Daughtry and Elliott, that's just so wrong.
I was a little emotional over Matt's elimination. I was pretty sad to see him go. I'm glad it wasn't Kris or Adam and his time was probably up, but it was kinda hard to see him get eliminated and actually leave. I liked Matt.
16Adam Lambert is TERRIBLE!!! He screams way to much... He would do well in theater or something but I would never go see him there either. I loved Matt and will miss him but now that Matt is gone...Kris Allen is my man!!! GO KRIS!!! He has a great voice and a very likeable personality!!
17Adam is the best Adam is the WINNER if he's not the whole nation will be shocked which can be said to reflect the shocked reactions of all when news spread of princess diana the same reaction will result if ADAM is not the WINNER.
18I would like to see a ADAM ALLISON finale with adam taking it out. Adam ROCKS the rest bore me so I hope they are sent home sorry.

20Adam being in the bottom two SCREAMS of mischief... like a ploy for ratings, an "unexpected twist" from idol. I'm glad that Matt went home, but I think Gokey should have been in the bottom two, if not eliminated.
21Sorry, Adam is completely overrated and honestly I don't feel he has enough range. I understand where Danny is getting the votes, he definitely appeals to the mom's and to the older crowd. I think he is talented, but I really like Kris a lot. He is very relevant, talented, attractive and has the potential to grow much the same way John Mayer has as a musician (even tho I don't like his "celebrity")

23It seemed as if the episode was scripted with the whole Adam-in-the-bottom-three thing. They just want to shock the crowd. It's obvious he'll make it to the top two.
24I've gotten the final 2 correct every season I've watched (which is all but 2 of them, incidentally). Usually I make my picks before the top 12 and predicted a Katherine/Taylor final based off their audition videos. I've called it from the beginning that Danny would make the final and I stand by that. It awhile for me to find someone else emerge, but it became quite apparent that the other will be Adam. IMO, Danny is the best NATURAL talent in the competition. He's insanely gifted vocally. The only problem I have with Adam is he hasn't been himself since he shed the EMO look in favor of a change in style every week. He's started doing what he's done his entire professional career...play characters. It's no surprise that he's a Broadway actor as he's very good at playing the role to fit the song. In doing so, he sacrifices his individuality. I sincerely hope he wins, however so that Danny can sign with a Christian label and make the music he wants to make anyway.
So, to end the suspense for all of you, it'll be Adam and Danny in the finale. I'd be honestly shocked if it weren't. Anyone who disagrees can look to your failure to recognize this as at least one reason why you aren't a talent scout.
