Buzz Time Machine: Jennifer Garner on Alias (With Bradley Cooper Bonus!)

Before Jennifer Garner was a full-on movie star in films like this week's release Arthur, she was kicking butt on prime-time TV as Sydney Bristow on Alias.

Before Jennifer Garner was a full-on movie star in films like this week's release Arthur, she was kicking butt on prime-time TV as Sydney Bristow on Alias. For this week's edition of Buzz Time Machine, let's relive the glory days when Garner was donning wigs and accents as a CIA agent. In this particularly funny clip, she and Bradley Cooper (aka Will) disguise themselves as rock stars before setting up camp in a swank hotel room and getting down to business.

Jennifer Garner Heads Back to Work on the Small Screen

Jennifer Garner has much to smile about these days as she embarks on a new chapter in her professional life: producing TV shows at ABC Studios.

Jennifer Garner has much to smile about these days as she embarks on a new chapter in her professional life: producing TV shows at ABC Studios. Garner starred in ABC's Alias for five seasons (and she'll probably always be Sydney Bristow to me), and now she's reuniting with the network for a first-look production deal.

As producers, Garner and her partner Juliana Janes aim to develop female-driven material like Grey's Anatomy. Garner says she and Steve McPherson, the president of ABC Entertainment, "have a great relationship and have been talking about doing something together for some time now. It's been over three years since the finale of Alias." Garner also noted that she's excited to "get back into television wearing my producer hat."

It remains to be seen whether or not Garner will be in front of the camera as well as behind it, but I hope she does some acting. I miss Alias and I enjoyed Garner more in the small-screen role of Sydney Bristow than in any of her movie roles.

Do you think Garner should stick to TV projects instead of movies?

What's Your Favorite JJ Abrams Series?

Tonight's premiere of Fringe got me thinking about creator/executive producer JJ Abrams and his pretty stellar track record on television.

Tonight's premiere of Fringe got me thinking about creator/executive producer JJ Abrams and his pretty stellar track record on television.

In the past decade, Abrams has created or co-created four shows (Felicity, Alias, Lost, and now Fringe) and executive-produced two others (Six Degrees and What About Brian). Many of those shows had ratings success and/or significant buzz, and all of them (well, except maybe Six Degrees) had vocal fan followings. While we wait to see how Fringe will stack up, which is your favorite of Abrams's series so far?

Buzz In: Which TV Shows Overstayed Their Welcome?

While some of you longtime Simpsons fans were celebrating the show's 20th-season renewal this week, just as many of you were saying the show should have quit while it was ahead.

While some of you longtime Simpsons fans were celebrating the show's 20th-season renewal this week, just as many of you were saying the show should have quit while it was ahead. I've already read one story musing that the end could be near for the show, and some people think that's coming, oh, seven or eight years too late.

We talk a lot around here about shows that get canceled before their time, but what about shows that just hang on too long? Frankly, as much as I love Alias, I wish it had wrapped up earlier. What other shows should have been canceled sooner than they actually were? Sound off below.

What's Buzzworthy? Addictive TV Shows

Despite all those great reasons to keep the TV on, it really is starting to feel like we're in the summer TV doldrums.

Despite all those great reasons to keep the TV on, it really is starting to feel like we're in the summer TV doldrums. The good news: It's the perfect time to catch up on favorite series on DVD. Some series are so addictive, they're meant to be watched straight through; recently, I powered through each of the first two seasons of "Weeds" in about three days each. Shows like "Alias" and "24" are also best watched straight through, without annoying reruns or pesky commercials.

For this week's Buzzworthy challenge, I want to know which TV shows have kept you glued to the set for days and nights on end. Simply use BuzzSugar's cool bookmarking tool to grab your favorites from around the Web, and tag them with the phrase addictive TV. I'll post some readers' picks here next week. You can also now make a list of your picks. Here are mine:
