The music industry has been in a tizzy ever since Adam Lambert left the American Idol stage — remember that Rolling Stone cover? Well, Lambert is releasing his debut album next month, along with fellow AI alum Kris Allen, and just today his newest song, "Time For Miracles," leaked online. (Listen here.)
The track is for the upcoming film 2012, but I'm admittedly feeling a little meh about it. It reminds me of Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" for Armageddon. That's not a bad thing, but I was hoping for something a little more unique from the outlandish Lambert. Luckily, the song reportedly doesn't reflect the sound on his final album, which is supposed to be more glam, less classic rock.
But if I'm going to be 100 percent truthful, my interest in Idol graduates — even Lambert — usually wanes somewhat after the show's finale. They're built up so much on AI, but once the winner is announced, I tend to forget about most of the contestants. (The exception being Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, of course.) Still, I'll probably check out Lambert and Allen's respective albums out of curiosity.
How about you? Do you care about post-Idol albums?

For me, it depends on the individual. Adam Lambert's performances were on a whole other playing field. Riveting. Exciting. Unpredictable. So, while I wasn't running out to get Taylor Hick's album (no offense intended to his fans), I will be looking for Adam Lambert's debut eagerly.
1David Cook's CD was the only post-Idol CD I ever bought, before this year. I'm still a David Cook fan and look forward to his next CD. This year, I really enjoyed Kris Allen's interpretation of the songs he sang. I've preordered his CD, and look forward to hearing it.
2I'm the same as Anon 3:32. I really like David Cook and I'm looking forward to hearing whatever he comes out with next. That was the only season I watched enough to really get that into anyone.
3LOVE Adam Lambert. Though honestly, he's the first AI alum I've ever cared about.
4the only post idol alums album i ever bought was david cook's, hes the only one i ever really payed attention to, i might buy kris allens tho
5Lambert is fascinating. I'm looking forward to his album.
6I've been disappointed by previous Idol albums, so I hope Adam Lambert raises the bar.
7Adam Lambert's performances on AI were unpredictable? I must have been watching a different show...the one I saw, he did a slow song one week, then an uptempo song the next, rinse and repeat, and did the exact same screeched note every. single. week. Also, his slow songs always had the same heavenly single spotlight on him the entire time.
8lol, ann, I'm with you, lambert for me was mind numbingly painful and pretty predictable. I was pretty sure every song was going to make my ears bleed and the dogs run away.. I'm not usually one for bashing what I don't like, but good lord, i could NOT stand the screeching.
I liked Kelly Clarkson and David Cook, I got their cd's. I loved Jordin Sparks voice, but I hate her music. Despite watching every season since it started, I couldn't tell you who won other then those two. I usually get dissapointed by ridiculous vote offs somewhere near the end.
9the only one i actually like is kelly clarkson....
10The only ones I have bought every new album from and really enjoyed it and listen to them all the time are Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.
11It really depends on who it is. I like Kelly Clarkson & will seek out her music, & was interested in David Cook, but haven't been thrilled with his stuff. I like Jordin Sparks, but usually just stick to listening to whatever I hear on the radio.
