Buzz Lines: What's Your Favorite Quote From A Christmas Story?

Nothing says family Christmas like leg lamps and kids getting their tongues stuck to frozen flagpoles!

Nothing says family Christmas like leg lamps and kids getting their tongues stuck to frozen flagpoles! A Christmas Story stands out among many holiday classics as the movie I most often quote around this time of year. If you've never seen it, you're in luck — some network always seems to play it for 24 hours straight on Christmas! If you have seen it, take a look at some of our favorite quotes below, and feel free to chime in with your own.

  • "You'll shoot your eye out!" — Miss Shields
  • "Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian." — Mr. Parker
  • "Mommy's little piggie!" — Mrs. Parker

Decorating Ideas to Steal From A Christmas Story

The movie has lots of great period details, some of which would look great in a modern home.

Buzz Gift Guide: Gaming Girls

Welcome back to my Buzz Gift Guide series for all the entertainment lovers in your life.

Welcome back to my Buzz Gift Guide series for all the entertainment lovers in your life. This week is all about gifting your peers who are, like you, totally obsessed with pop culture. I already found gifts for the Sex and the City fanatic and t-shirt-loving chicas.

Today I've rounded up some ideas for the game-loving ladies in your life. I personally enjoy a good game of Texas Hold 'Em to pass the time with my family over the holidays, and I was excited to find this hilarious Desperate Housewives themed poker set. So many of us grew up watching A Christmas Story that it would probably be easy to gather a group around this board game based on the movie, and I already have several friends in mind for the board game based on The Office.

Finally, for your more technologically savvy friends and family, I might suggest this Scene It? Seinfeld game which includes a DVD component, as well as Dancing with the Stars and American Idol games for Nintendo's Wii.

The Results Are in: Recast A Christmas Story

Every Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie.

Every Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!

I know this beloved classic holiday movie was a tough one to recast, so thank you to everyone who embraced the challenge! Nothing beats the original, but there were certainly some fun recast lists submitted this week. I especially loved chancleta's and precious_pets4's non-white recast lists.

I also enjoyed many of the ideas for Mrs. Parker and the Old Man, like leeluvfashion's idea of Elizabeth Perkins as Mrs. Parker and mamaseacat's suggestion of Bernie Mac playing the Old Man. WhiplashGirlchild's ideas of Lisa Kudrow and John Goodman in those roles would also be a lot of fun.

My favorite recast list this week, however, is actually the very first on the list, submitted by kersalli! To see who kersalli picked, along with a new cast photo, read more

For today's holiday gift guide, here are some ideas for your friends and family members who love a good prank and for whom gag gifts are like real gifts.

For a lot of my comedy-loving friends, watching and quoting The Simpsons is like a religion. This adorable mouse with a floating Homer (with a beer balancing on his belly, natch) is sure to make your pals go "woo-hoo!"

Who can forget the sexy leg lamp that the Old Man mail orders in A Christmas Story? Give your buddies the gift of the kitschiest lamp in film history.

What would MacGyver do, indeed? Seriously, that show made many of us feel like we could get out of any, um, difficult situation, and now your friends can ironically declare this notion on their chests with the "What would MacGyver do?" t-shirt.

Recast A Christmas Story and Win a Prize!

Every Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!

Yes, I know A Christmas Story is a supremely beloved classic holiday movie, but it's the only holiday film we'll recast this season and it's the last recast for a few weeks as we kick into hectic holiday time. So, humor me! Who would you cast in a modern version of this film?

Since the young Ralphie, his meatloaf-hating little bro Randy, their mother and bristly "Old Man" are the main characters, let's stick to finding new actors for these roles. If you are struck with a genius idea for recasting some of the more peripheral characters, however, by all means — go for it!

Leave your entry in the comment section below, and I'll pick one winner to feature Tuesday, Dec. 18, complete with a "new" cast photo.
