Colin Farrell's having a bit of a career resurgence thanks to his recent cameo in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus and a memorable role in Crazy Heart. His latest movie, Ondine, is a fantasy that flies in another direction than you'd expect from the Irishman. In it, he plays a single father and fisherman (swoon-worthy accent intact) who pulls a woman, the titular Ondine, from the sea. His young daughter regales him with stories of mermaids and other mythology amid the woman's ability to bring him lots of luck (read: fish).
The trailer turns romantic, fantastical, and even thrilling — and it seems like it may work, given that it's coming from the masterful hand of director Neil Jordan. I'm loving Farrell's turn as a sweet father and sexy hero, and since most of you said you were still into him too, you'll enjoy this clip.

You ready for this? The star-packed Valentine's Day — which hasn't even hit theaters yet — is reportedly getting a sequel. The new installment will be based around New Year's Eve instead, with an ensemble of characters celebrating the big day in the setting of New York City. The plan is to have a few of the Valentine's actors return along with their director Garry Marshall for consistency.
New Year's Eve is definitely ripe for a good relationship storyline (just think of the classic When Harry Met Sally ball drop scene), but where do the holidays stop? The possibilities seem endless. So with that in mind, I'd like to pitch Hollywood the following holiday-themed romantic comedies.
- Mother's Day: Two single people take their mothers out to dinner for Mother's Day, but uh-oh, the restaurant double-booked their table, so they're stuck sitting with each other. What begins as pure disgust — he's a slovenly eater, she's too picky — turns into romance as their moms plot in the ladies room to get them together.
- St. Patrick's Day: It'd be like if The Hangover was a rom-com. You have two separate groups of friends on bar crawls when he spots her — a co-ed in a green belly shirt doing shots of Jameson. They get drunk together, dance an Irish jig, and by the end of the night, he's holding her hair back.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith — the early years? That's the idea behind Hollywood's latest follow-up to the movie that first paired Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Instead of a sequel, though, the next movie would be a prequel with different actors.
The prequel, titled Mr. and Mrs. Jones, would match up two completely new characters in a similar situation — spies forced into an arranged marriage — but this time, they'll be a bit younger. The casting calls for two 20-something hot actors, and if Jones wants to get close to the success of Smith, the couple needs to have smoldering hot chemistry.
Any ideas? I could see Natalie Portman or Malin Akerman taking on the man-eater role, while Jake Gyllenhaal or Robert Pattinson could both stand to take on a slick action flick. Who would you want to see together?

Avatar may be finally waning a bit at the box office, but the projects are still rollin' in for the film's actors. Leading man Sam Worthington has been in talks to play Flash Gordon and signed on for a Dracula movie, and now he's got yet another one to throw on the pile. Worthington will star in The Fields, playing a Texan detective who investigates unsolved homicide mysteries with a detective from New York. Let the city boy/country boy jokes and banter commence!
The screenplay is based on a true story and will be directed by Ami Canaan Mann. I'm glad to see Worthington is expanding his range outside of the action and fantasy realm — I just hope he takes a few lessons on mastering that Southern accent first.
