This movie is intriguing for the incredible ensemble cast, although when that's the only good thing its own stars have to say about it, that's not a good sign. The Air I Breathe opens in New York and Los Angeles tonight and I wanted to get your thoughts on the preview, as I'm a little torn. There's a lot of talent piled into this flick (Forest Whitaker, Andy Garcia, Julie Delpy, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Emile Hirsch), but I'm a little confused by the trailer . . . which is maybe the point.
Apparently the plot follows several intersecting stories based on "four emotional cornerstones: happiness, pleasure, sorrow and love." IMDB continues, "A businessman (Whitaker) bets his life on a horse race; a gangster (Brendan Fraser) sees the future; a pop star (Gellar) falls prey to a crime boss (Garcia); a doctor (Kevin Bacon) must save the love of his life."
The New York Times reports that debut feature director Jieho Lee describes his movie this way:
"[It's] a film noir variation of The Wizard of Oz and an exploration of the theme of character as destiny."
Huh. Okay. To check out the trailer and tell me what you think, head on over to iVillage.

wow this looks WAY too depressing for me!!!
1I think it looks like it'd be good... a very thoughtful movie, perhaps..
2i saw her on regis the other day promoting it and i don't know - i might go and see it - although sometimes she annoys me. she's one of those versatile actresses although lately when she's IN a movie - she's a bit darker...more morose and all that
3I don't know what SMG's doing to that mirror in that photo up there, but it made me think of Truman Show.
4It kind of reminds me of Crash; it revolves so many people and their lives and it somehow all ties together. I'll go see it because the of the cast.
5*it revolves around
6it reminded me of crash, too..i'd like to see it, and have never seen SMG in anything other than horror flicks and buffy, so this might be interesting. she is beeyootiful Also i love Brendan Fraser and a lot of the flix Kevin Bacon is in are pretty good. Anyways for me movies which don't give away the plot and predictable love story in the trailer are much more interesting... its like the anti-"blond ambition"...although if I watch this in the theatre i may end up driving my boyfriend crazy wih questions since i won;t get the whole idea the first time i see it one more thing i wouldn't really trust SMG's poor review or this. She is not a film critic and maybe she just doesn't like art films~~
7looks good to me
8i'll watch anything with julie delpy in it. this looks very interesting. interesting concept.
9Forest Whitaker bugs me, but I'll probably go see it.
10The movie's official site has a different trailer that automatically plays when the page loads: http://www.theairibreathemovie.com/
This trailer makes it seem like a TOTALLY different movie.
11I saw this at preview. I thought it was a bit depressing, kind of hopeless, but I liked the way the stories unfolded and interconnected and thought the actors all did phenomenally, at times having to rise above the script. The first time I saw it, I liked it a lot better than the second more recent screening, so I am glad I didn't do my work review based on my first opinion, but I still liked it a lot more than most reviewers have, although I no longer think it's an amazing movie like I initially thought. I think I initially found it so different and found that difference so striking that I ignored things like plot holes and sometimes plodding self absorbed direction.
12Not sure what I think...I'd watch it though, it seems interesting, that's for sure.
13i think it looks really good.
14and it has some of the best actors in it.
I don't get what it's about
I did not know that.
15Plus...Julie Delpy is in this movie?
Interesting. I may catch this movie.
16I saw something elsewhere about this movie and kind of look forward to seeing it. My interest was really peaked and I can't wait!
