Sienna Miller's latest movie, Factory Girl, has ignited the anger of one of her favorite musicians, Bob Dylan. Miller plays Edie Sedgwick, the muse of Andy Warhol (Guy Pearce), in the film about Sedgwick's life before she committed suicide. But according to the UK's Guardian,
Dylan apparently believes that the film's depiction of his alleged affair with Sedgwick suggests it was their subsequent break-up that led to her death from a barbiturates overdose in 1971 at the age of 28.
Dylan's lawyer, Orin Snyder, wrote to the film's producers: 'Even though Mr Dylan's name is not used, the portrayal remains... defamatory.'
Dylan tried to halt the release of the film, which was rushed out in the US last week in time to qualify for consideration for the Oscars.
Miller calls herself Dylan's "biggest fan" and is "mortified" by his reaction, claiming that the movie places the blame more squarely on Warhol than anyone else.
Yikes! Well, despite Dylan's efforts, the movie came out in select cities on December 29, but a nationwide release date has yet to be set, fueling rumors that the film did not do well with test audiences. Check out the trailer below and tell me what you think: Will you see Factory Girl?

i can't stand siena miller... i really don't get what all the hype is about. she seems kinda nasty
1I do not like Sienna..though I hated her for her body in Alfie..
I am curious about this movie because I love anything about Andy Warhol. so I am very conflicted on this one.

3and I am repeating myself again again
4i agree liza. i dont see it either. nasty indeed. indeed.
5I too am conflicted. I don't really care if Sienna's in it or not. Its more about Dylan and Warhol for me, and whether its a factual depiction about what really happened during her times with them.

I'm with Ima and Jinx. I hate Sienna but I love everything Warhol and everything 60's. I'll definitely see this but I'll probably wait for the DVD.
7I hate Sienna more than any other celeb alive or dead.
I have heard nothing but horrible things about this movie too. I think they were still doing re-shoot like a couple of weeks ago. So much for her oscar nod!
8I'll prolly put it on my Nexflix list & watch it when I get it...
I love Guy Pierce tho... & all the 60s fashion
9Factory flop. ha ha. Socialites annoy me. Sienna I don't really care about but it seems like she just doesn't ever get it.
10Who is palying Dylan? I can't tell from the photo.
11Hayden Christiansen is playing Dylan, which is a travesty in itself. I'm so angry on Dylan's behalf. Can you imagine, feeling like a movie implicates you in someone's suicide? He's such a peace-loving person that for him to bring this lawsuit is huge.
12I like the idea of seeing this movie for all the 60s style but I don't think I will see it now.
And Sienna Miller's just a big baby.
I'm surprised Dylan brought the lawsuit, I agree, it is huge. They used other peoples real names, but not Dylans. It makes me wonder why. Also, I've read that Edie was involved with and lived with Bob Neuwirth, a friend of Dylans, and was never with Dylan. Grrr, lol.

I've heard a lot of things about Dylan and Edie's relationship, mainly that he refuses to talk about it in interviews and stuff. Also, though, several of his most famous songs are supposedly about her, including 'Like A Rolling Stone' and 'Just Like a Woman,' which is kind of heartbreaking when you think about it. I'd be mad if someone misrepresented my relationship with someone in a movie for all to see.
14And yeah, they didn't use his name but everything else about that character is so obviously him. Crazy!
It is him, without a doubt. I wonder how Dylan found out about this, since the movie hadn't been released yet.
I didn't know those songs were possibly about her. Can you imagine having Dylan write poetry about you? *sigh* The lyrics kind of fit, from what I've read about Sedgewick, but I've heard that the only one who knows for sure if her and Dylan had a fling is Dylan, and he ain't talking! lol

I've heard that Edie's brother said that she was pregnant w/ Dylan's kid & was on a bunch of drugs & was committed & the hospital aborted the fetus b/c they said it would have been viable. Can you imagine?!
16That's awful, I wonder how much is true. Thats what bothers me about movies like this. "Based on a true story" doesn't mean its 100% factual.

I know - especially if he wrote songs like those... they're such legends. I would melt.
18I think the movie is out in L.A. and New York... Though I don't know how he saw it in advance. I guess if you're Bob Dylan and a movie about Edie Sedgwick comes out, you might be able to get into a pre-screening! lol
lol So true latte. I know I am going to try and see this movie, regardless. I'm too curious.

will i see this movie? probably not. for this reason: edie was an all-american girl from santa barbara. i don't care how much sienna miller tries to channel edie sedgwick, she is just "euro-trash." it's like having britney spears play princess diana. just wrong.
20That's why they call it acting. You place yourself in someone else's shoes.

This whole controversy is probably really good for the film - it would have probably dropped off my radar otherwise. Looks interesting. I don't have anything against Siena Miller, but Hayden Christensen is quite possibly the worst actor on the face of the earth.
