Yes, sadly, the rumors are true: After four seasons, Fox's "The O.C." is going off the air. According to a press release from the network, Fox wil continue to air new episodes of "The O.C." until the final show on Feb. 22:
"The O.C. Season Four finale will also be the series finale. This feels like the best time to bring the show to its close,” said Josh Schwartz, creator and executive producer of The O.C.
I'm at least glad that Fox is planning to show the rest of the season, because I'm really curious to see what happens next. According to TV Guide columnist Michael Ausiello, the January episodes are likely to be pretty nuts: "Someone's coming out, someone's getting pregnant, and someone's going to receive two marriage proposals." Can't wait to find out those answers. I just hope the finale is sufficiently juicy.
As for "O.C." creator Josh Schwartz, he'll be just fine for now. According to Variety, his new pilot, "an action comedy about 20-something spies" called "Chuck," was just picked up by NBC.

Who would have thought during the first season with all the hype (I didnt invest in it thankfully otherwise I would be furious right now) that it would end at a stinkin 4th season.

17There is the rumor going around that the CW might be picking up this series for next season. So even though it is a series finale, it might end up only being the series finale on FOX, with the fifth season on the CW. Woohoo!

21I'm not suprised really, there didn't seem to be that much buzz about it down here this season. Usually they have ads for it every other commercial break, so much so it drives me nuts, but this season i've hardly seen anything.
22I am happy that it is coming to an end...it was too hard being against Grey's and CSI! I was watching it at a friend's house and TiVoing the other shows...they should have left it on Wednesdays.
23I was just starting to really get into this season. But I've always said it's better to go out early, leaving the audience wanting more than to just drag on. Usually shows turn sour after four seasons, sometimes five.
