Clear your calendar: The seventh season of American Idol kicks off tonight with auditions in Philadelphia. After so many years, I just can't stomach the auditions anymore, so I typically wait till the Hollywood round to tune in. I know other people live for the auditions, while some of you might not watch until the bitter end. So I'm wondering: When do you start watching American Idol?

I really wish this show would just go away already.
I think that this year I'm going to restrain entirely from watching it. Or try at at least. Usually I just watch the auditions and unles someone really grabs me, I quit after that.
I stopped watching about 3 seasons ago, maybe 4. The show is a joke, they want you to take it seriously, but than they start the whole thing out basically making fun of people, letting people in that cannot sing, never really showing the real talent untill hollywood and then you are so freaking confused because your like "who are these people? i dont remember thier auditions?" The product placements, the repetitive judging behavior (simons mean, paulas crazy and emotional, randy is a giant lump of smugness and Yo-Yo_yo dawgs)
The cheesy commercials, the cheesy "goodbye" songs, the "we will find out....after the break"
Its not worth my time anymore. And BTW Never have i ever bought any AI alumni or winners album. Ever.
I watched the first season but then got tired really fast from watching the second season, so I just gave up on AI.
My husband only likes the auditions, me and the kids like the whole kit and kaboodle. It's better than watching the history channel which mysteriously comes on about the same time my hubby gets home...
It's been really crappy lately. Hopefully it will be better this year. I'm giving it another try. If it's bad, then I'm no longer a fan.
I've seen one finale and one audition episode of this show ever, and that was more than enough for me. No thanks.
My mom and I only watch the auditions. Anyways, The Biggest Loser is on at the same time slot, so we might just watch during commercials. I have never been that interested in American Idol. I watch the auditions to get a good laugh, and I don't watch again until 5 minutes before the finale ends to find out who the winner is. I just don't find it to be an interesting show. I guess the American public agrees and is just fed up with it.
If I watch it, it's only the auditions & then the last 2 or 3 episodes.
I'm so sick of this show.
i watch the auditions for a good laugh then i watch the final 3 episodes to see who wins. that's about it.
if this season is bad, i quit! i watch the whole painful season for watercooler talk at work, but i'm really not excited about the show this year.
Radarkitty, I know what you mean. How does that happen? My husband ALWAYS finds something to watch on that channel.
I start at the auditions that is the best part. On the radio this morning they were playing clips, it was hilarious!
The last couple of years have not been that good i have really cared who wins but i do like to watch it.
I love the auditions. Last season I was really frustrated with Randy Jackson though, because he was VERY intolerant and turned away a ton of people who should have gotten through.
Lol I watch it for the auditions. ^^
I watched the first season because my roommate did. Haven't watched more than a few minutes since, and I don't miss it at all.
Um,... I love American Idol. I will shamelessly love and watch it as long as Paula shamelessly flaunts her position as Senior NutJob!
I only watch the auditions, that is like the best part of American Idol... I love how these people think they can sing!
Audition episodes only. It is always interesting to see the poeple whose friends tell them that they can sing.
I am a reality show junkie and for some reason I just can't get into this OR Survivor. I gave each a shot in their first season, but didn't last past that.
I never tune in until the Hollywood Round. I can't stand the auditions!
I watch this show from beginning to end. and I've watched every single season. I love this show!
The audition part is the funniest part of the show. And i honestly like Simon because he tells the truth. These people who can't sing need a slap of reality. And i watch the last three people.
I love the auditions but I can't stand the remainder of the season. So I'll watch the auditions and stop after that.
I always watch it with my daughter who lives in another city by chatting on google chat. It is a lot of fun to rate the singers. The last few shows are the best. We all know that the auditions is just a big casting call and you know they have already picked out who is going to make it to the final 24 or 12.
They just do the auditions for pure entertainment purposes - this is not random but really staged. Let the singing begin - I will watch tonight.
I've never been a fan of the show.. ;/
I was a fan for the first few seasons. Last season though was so gawd awful! The auditions are a little painful to watch now, but sometimes I'll watch them. I might watch the rest of the season but it will definitely depend on how good the contestants are.
I watch here and there until the Top 12, then I'm fairly religious about it, at least in the past two seasons. A LOT of people are into it here (ALABAMA!) because of Reuben, Taylor and Bo Bice. I do get super annoyed with all the commercials and "after the break" crap. So usually I just DVR it.
I only watch the auditions. afterwards I get kinda bored and just quit watching
Give me The History Channel ANY DAY over American Idol.
PS: If you can, you should check out your local PBS Station during this strike...they have a lot of great show offerings!!!
PS: CaterpillarGirl's comment was like reading my own mind...LOL
The audition episodes and only the audition episodes. I enjoyed seeing the really bad singers, but then I totally lose interest.
I only watch the auditions so I can see all the people that can't sing
Last year was my first season, so I'm not sick of the auditions yet. In fact, I'm secretly hoping that in the Philly round tonight I see someone I went to high school with make a total ass out of themselves. That would make my week
I cannot handle the audition rounds at all. What a waste of time. What I usually do is watch the last five minutes during the "real" competition, on both nights. On performance night, to see the recaps and phone numbers, and on results night, to see who is kicked off. Mostly the show just annoys me because of all the commercials.
Please go away American Idol. Seriously, just go away.
You'd think people would stop auditioning when they realized that only the very first "American Idol" did anything special with her "career." It's sad what people will do to be on camera.
I kind of lost interest in Idol two years ago, REALLY got tired of it last year, and am not sure how much I'll tune in this year. Maybe here and there, but probably not much.
I usually never watch this show but my bf is a fan of the audition episodes so we'll be watching tonight!
the audition episodes maybe..
The audition episodes ONLY!
Only the audtions - the rest are dull
i watch from the auditions all the way through to the finale.
Last year I didn't pay too much attention because I didn't really have a favorite
I've never actually gotten into AI like a lot of other people do...I'm glad I'm not the only one!
I only like to watch the auditions, but right now my son and I are watching The Biggest Loser and they overlap, so AI gets the boot.
i stopped after like.. the third or fourth.
I ususally just watch the auditions and then maybe the first Hollywood round. I know it's bad but some of the auditions can be so funny.
The only good thing from American Idol was Carrie Ubderwood...other than that bleh.
I hate the auditions....alot of those people they're making fun of are obviously mentally unstable. Poking fun at them on national telvision is a new low.
i only ever watch the auditions. i think that i've just never got on the boat for AI - but the auditions are always entertaining
ugh. Can't handle it. Plus I never turn the tv on before 10 anyways.
