Hugh Dancy and Krysten Ritter have joined Isla Fisher for Confessions of a Shopaholic, the film adaptation of Sophie Kinsella's bestselling Shopaholic novels. Fisher will play the Shopaholic herself, Becky Bloomwood. The film version focuses on Becky, "a compulsive shopper in Manhattan up to her neck in debt who becomes a financial-advice columnist." Want to find out what Dancy and Ritter have to do with it? Just read more.
Dancy will play the editor of the financial magazine where Becky works and Ritter has nabbed the role of Becky's best friend.
Dancy (a.k.a. Claire Danes' boyfriend) was last seen as the completely adorable Grigg in The Jane Austen Book Club as well as the lovestruck Buddy in Evening. Ritter appears in the upcoming 27 Dresses.
Still no word on who will play the handsome Luke Brandon. Who do you think would fit this role best?

This could be a really cute movie. Those books are so fun.
1i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these books....can't wait to find out who luke brandon will be! i know...i'm a dork...
2Hmmm, Luke Brandon, when I read the books I always picture someone with dark hair. Although I just saw the Nanny Diaries over the weekend (it sucked) and can't stop thinking about the Harvard Hottie...if only I could find myself a Luke or Harvard Hottie.
3I could see Ryan Reynolds as Luke.
4Hugh Jackman!!! I think he would fit this amazing!
5ryan reynolds is not bad either, sugarbecky!
6People will probably disagree with me, but the idea of Isla Fisher as Becky terrifies me!
God bless her she's beautiful, but she's a terrible actress! (don't tell me it's not obvious in the Wedding Crashers)
7
Great chose of actors!
8I'm fairly sure that these two have been signed on for quite a bit of time. This really isn't news.
I'm excited for Krysten Ritter, though, because she used to live in a little "town" very near to me.
9Ok, Ryan Reynods..NO WAY! Hugh I could see it. Oh how I wish Tom Brady was an actor! He is totally Luke Brandon!
10What about Michael Vartan?
11Josh Duhamel will make a great luke *sigh*
12I really like the idea of Michael Vartan as Luke Brandon.
13I always saw Christian Bale or possibly Jack Davenport as Luke, can't wait to find out who it will be!
14oh i loved this series! i always thought luke wilson would be perfect for luke brandon,
15I love these books. I would love to see Michael Vartan as Luke as well.
16this is so exciting! i love these books...i've been trying to think of a good actor to play Luke.
17I don't see Christian Bale as Luke, Bale strikes me as the more dramatic type and these books are not dramatic at all. I really like the idea of Michael Vartan, though. The movie sounds like a mixing of the first two books in the series. I am in the middle of Shopaholic Takes Manhattan.
18I vote for Josh Duhamel ... he could definitely pull it off.
19I always pictured Luke as older, maybe more of a Mr. Big type.
20I'm sad that Becky is in Manhattan. She doesn't go to Manhattan until the second book!
21These books are AMAZING! i really hope the movie does it right...
22yeah, i'm sad taht becky is in manhattan. part of becky's charm is her innate british-ness.
as for the fabulous brandon... i could get behind michael vartan. i would be less okay with ryan reynolds. i could also be a fan of matthew mcfadden (the guy from pride and predujuce)
23AHHH i just bought this book thinking hmmm this looks good. i better start reading it now!
24for luke brandon i was thinking that dylan mcdermott would be perfect! i always imagined him while reading the book....
25I loved these books! It will be a fun movie franchise!
26I am so excited about this movie! I adored the books so I am sure I will love the movie plus I think Isla Fisher is adorable.
27Eh, on Michael Vartan...Luke Wilson is too goofy.
What about Dermot Mulroney? He's got the older/tall-dark-and-handsome thing going for him which is what I always pictured for Luke.
28Totally thinking Josh Duhamel too
29I agree that Michael Vartan would be perfect for Luke's role. I also really loved these books and I'm totally looking forward to the movie!
30I'm sad Becky's in Manhattan. I liked that she was British.
31Mr.Big [sex&the city] ABSOLUTELY NEEEEEEEEEDS TO BE LUKE BRANDON
32CHRIS NOTH ALL THE WAY!! chris noth is luke brandon!!!!!!
I've been trying to picture Luke Brandon. I'm thinking maybe Richard Armitage from BBC's North and South. He can play the brooding part well and was adorable in the Vicar of Dibley. I am horribly sad that this is in Manhattan. This has the potential to be a great movie franchise as long as they don't mess it up.
33Hmm... I always pictured Becky as a brunette... Not really a red-head, but oh well. And for Luke, I could see Josh Duhamel, but he's a little younger than I would choose. Plus, I think someone from England would be better than an American actor. And for some reason, I pictured Luke as a blond. Hmm. Can't wait to see what they do with it, though - I've read all the books!
34I am so excited for this movie....these are probably my favorite series of books ever. I hope that they are true to the books, and I'm kind of worried, because like others have said here, Becky shouldn't be in New York until the VERY end of the first book and most of the 2nd one. We shall see....as far as who should play Luke, I would LOVE to see Michael Vartan play Luke, but I honestly want Colin Firth to play him. I know that he's a bit older and he always plays the good guy in the more british themed movies, but I think that he has the calm, cool, collectedness that Luke needs, in order to counteract the craziness that is Becky. I just hope that they make good choices and the movie is good....I've been waiting for it for a LOOOOOOONG time!
35I think Gerard Butler would make a good Luke. He has that whole dark and handsome look that Luke Brandon exudes.
36I can't wait! I think that Richard Armitage would make a great Luke and really disappointed that it's not set in the U.K. What country is Becky going to take then?
37I think Leonardo Dicaprio would make a great Luke. Or the lesser known movie actor Shane West from the movie A Walk To Remember.
38For those who like an older Luke Brandon, I think Julian McMahon would be great. He's sooo sexy.
39To be true, i can't wait for the movie to be out !!The Series of books are truely also my fave of all... they are great! For the role as Becky its set that Isla Fisher will take the Role ..But for Luke Brandon... I truely hope that JENSEN ACKLES will take the role....Although, luke Brandon should be played by older guys but most importantly is that if the chosen actor is suitable for the role an also compatible with Becky! In the book Luke is a succcesful business man with good looks...
For the settings of the movie... it should be flimed in London but it turned out to be flimed in New york isn't it weird that the book was writing about the character being in London but in the movie it is flimed in New York...
