I get the warm fuzzies every time I watch the trailer for Girls Rock, a documentary coming to theaters this spring. The movie, which has recently been advertised before screenings of Juno, follows campers at Portland's Rock 'N' Roll Camp for Girls, a week-long camp that encourages girls to find their voices both on stage and in life. Through writing lyrics, learning guitar and drums, working with mentors including Sleater-Kinney's Carrie Brownstein, and screaming their hearts out, the girls deal with issues of body image, identity, rebellion, and — ultimately — self-acceptance. The whole thing makes me want to grab a guitar, get up in front of a crowd, and yell till I'm hoarse. The movie opens in select theaters March 7, but to watch the trailer now, just read more.

2That's so cool! I love Sleater-Kinney, and I'm STILL so bummed about them not recording another album.
3OMG this is the most amazing thing I've EVER seen - Sleater-Kinney rulez. Yeah that's right, I used "rulez."
4Thanks, Buzz. This looks amazing.
