CBS has announced the 20 contestants for Survivor: Micronesia, the whopping 16th edition of the show. This time, the network is throwing in a pretty ridiculous twist: The 20 contestants are divided into tribes of 10 former castaways and 10 superfans. The tribes will be dropped on the Rock Islands of Micronesia, where I suppose we'll see if experience with Survivor's challenges outlasts crazy fandom.
I know Survivor isn't the must-see show it once was, but if any of you were fans back in the day, I'm wondering: Are these the "favorites" you would have picked to compete in this special edition? Personally, I wish they could have brought back some really old-school contestants; nobody on this list competed before the seventh season, and most are even more recent than that. To see which favorites have signed up to be cast away again, just read more.
Yau-Man Chan (Survivor: Fiji)
James Clement (Survivor: China)
Ami Cusack (Survivor: Vanuatu)
Jonny Fairplay (Survivor: Pearl Islands)
Cirie Fields (Survivor: Panama — Exile Island)
Amanda Kimmel (Survivor: China)
Oscar "Ozzy" Lusth (Survivor: Cook Islands)
Eliza Orlins (Survivor: Vanuatu)
Jonathan Penner (Survivor: Cook Islands)
Parvati Shallow (Survivor: Cook Islands)

I don't know if I'll want to watch if Parvati is there, I couldn't stand her!
1The reason they had more current contestants is cause this is the second "All-Star" season. So they invited contestants in seasons AFTER that particular one.
I'm super excited. It should be interesting to see who fares better: the people that have been watching since Day 1 (like me but there's nooooo way I'd go on the show!) or the people that have actually played the game.
2Oops...except for Jonny Fairplay..he's from an earlier season. But you know they only brought him back for the controversy he'll bring.
Too bad Danny Bonaduce can't go on the show and beat his ass again!
3Yau-Man and James are two of my favorites, but most of the others? Not so much. And I agree with glam sugar about Parvati. She was too much the first time around. Not again!
4I was SUCH a Survivor fanatic when it first came out, I just loved it. And even though it's not that interesting to me anymore, I've still seen every season except this past one.
I'm not thrilled with this list of former castaways. Especially Fairplay. Ugh!
5i'm definitely 'eh' about the cast as well - although i did really like ozzie. he was amazing in those challenges! my dream team would include some folks from the previous all-star cast like colby and stefanie. this probably isn't the network's ideal cast either as i'm sure some first picks just said no.
6Gawd, I hate Fairplay, what an a$$. And Parvati. Glad to see Yau-Man, though!
bluesarahlou: I had the same thought about Danny Bonaduce!
7My goodness, the 16th season! I know that it's still getting decent ratings but why not give it a rest already! Anyways, that seems like a good twist-- fans vs. the survivors.
8I am thrilled Yau-Man is back. Not because he was so cool, but he is from MARTINEZ! My hometown!
I've watched every single season and some of these people I don't even remember but I'm okay with it. Except for J. Fairplay. He's a butthead.
9Glad to see Ozzy back too.
10I am glad Ozzy is back. I wish the show was more of a head to head battle between the powerhouses of the past few seasons like Ozzy, Tom the fireman and the Terry the jet fighter pilot and of course Rupert! They were all so good at the challenges it would be interesting to see who is actually the best of the best.
