Happy New Year! As we ring in 2008, I'm leaving the Best of 2007 behind me and turning my attention to what movies, music, television shows, and books I'm most looking forward to in the new year. Over the coming days, I'll be sharing some of my thoughts on the most anticipated events of '08.
But first, I'm wondering: What are you most looking forward to, entertainment-wise, for this new year? What actors and actresses would you like to see get better jobs? Which movies do you hope will be hits (or flops)? And which TV shows do you think should get recognition while others fade away?
Here are a few of mine to get you started: I'm looking forward to the end (I hope) of the Hollywood writers' strike, the forthcoming premieres of Lipstick Jungle and Cashmere Mafia, the new crop of films at the Sundance Film Festival, and the May release of the big-screen Sex and the City.

I also want the strike to end ASAP.
Also, I'd like to see "The Office" and "Lost" return to form.
As far as movies go, I'm excited for "There Will Be Blood," "Blindness," "The Kite Runner," "Teeth," and "Penelope." And a ton more that escape me at the moment.

4ah yes the strike. i want that over! i'm really looking forward to cashmere mafia the most. don't care if it's a rip-off of sex and the city. i love satc so i'm sure i will love this one too.
as for actors i like to see get a better job: keri russell...well more jobs for her in her case so i guess that doesn't answer the question. i just want to see more of her and less alba, scarjo, keira, natalie.
hit movies: the happening, indiana jones, the DARK f*ckin' KNIGHT!!
movie flops: whatever the movies that will be the 2008 versions of Wild Hogs, Norbit.
lastly.....2008 BETTER NOT HAVE DANE COOK STARRING IN ANY MOVIE!
5I want to see Shia full-frontal nudity please...
6Definitely looking forward to The Incredible Hulk as well as The Dark Knight. Also, anything Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley release this year (pending the writer's strike) I'll be eager to see.
7Lost. The Wire Season 5 (Less than a week away!). And the rest of this season of project runway.
8The strike to end!!! I want my shows back!!!

As much as I want the strike to end, I don't think the writers should settle for anything less than what they deserve, so I'm willing to dig in and wait it out as long as necessary.

A happy ending for all to the writers' strike tops my list. Also looking forward to Season 5 of The Wire and to the return of The Tudors and to this summer's Damages and Mad Men as well as Big Love.
