I recently shared with you my 2007 mix of general songs that I loved, a kind of soundtrack to my year. Now I've rounded up some actual soundtrack songs from TV shows and movies that stood out enough for me to track them down after turning off the TV or leaving the movie theater. Thus, if my entertainment-related experiences had a soundtrack this year, this mix is basically what it would look like.
Some are oldies I already knew but loved in a whole new way, like "Knock On Wood" from Talk to Me. Others I hadn't heard and they compelled me to seek out more music by the artist, as happened with The Pierces' song "Three Wishes," used in Gossip Girl.

Great call on Band of Horses, Ingrid Michaelson (I've been fixated on her music for most of the year!), and Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova (my favourite little song from the best film to come out this year... soon to be last year!)
I would throw on the little diddy Michael Cera sang at that one house party in Superbad... that rocked!
1Agree with Phil about Once. So good! Though my favorite song from the soundtrack is When Your Minds Made Up.

3where's bitter:sweet? they had songs on nearly every show (samantha who?, grey's, brothers and sisters, etc.) and movies...
4Way to go on the inclusion of 'Daughter' by Loudon Wainwright from 'Knocked Up'! When that song starts, I cry cry cry... that movie was my favorite this year. It's additionally cool since Loudon's been a part of so many of Apatow's project and was in 'Knocked Up' as well.

6Where's Eddie Vedder on this list? I think his songs for Into the Wild are amazing, and I'm so mad that even after he won the Golden Globe for best song, the Academy chose to completely ignore him, and instead gave 3 nominations to Enchanted songs.
