It's not really surprising that Madonna will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this March. Back in September, the eligible nominees for the 2008 induction included Madonna, the Beastie Boys, John Mellencamp, Leonard Cohen, Afrika Bambaataa, Chic, the Ventures, Donna Summer and the Dave Clark Five. As of today, five of these nine have been selected for the actual induction. And the new members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are...

So... no Beastie Boys? Shocking! That decision puzzles me, though this is just the first year that the Boys are eligible to be inducted, so there's always 2009! What do you think of this year's inductees? Were the Beastie Boys shafted? What about Donna Summer, for that matter? Discuss.

1I'm happy Madonna is being inducted. I'm not a fan of the Beastie Boys, but I do believe they are an important part of rock history. Maybe next year.
2Its all crap anyway. The voting system, who gets in who doesnt, its all about money, and the personal preference of the couple of guys who run the place

Cryptic but sweet. You have to pay to have your stuff up on the wall, and to get a table at your own nomination and induction ceremony.
3Beasties were robbed but in light of caterpillar girl's comments maybe they opted out. Perhaps they aren't so vain that they need to buy themselves a place in the hall of fame. Maybe they know they're already in our hearts as true rock icons

I love Donna Summers to be honest, there wouldn't be a madonna if there wasn't a Donna Summer. But Glad Madonna is in.
5Beastie Boys should've been IN. They're more ROCK and ROLL than Madonna, that's for sure.
6Donna Summer got shafted. They must be out of their minds, she is a Legend and was long before Madonna came along. Ridiculous!

8Well i guess it's been a long time coming for madonna, she deserves it even though i'm not an ardent fan of hers, can't deny her contribution to rock music.
9I don't think the Beastie Boys are more rock n' roll than Madonna. I don't think either of them could be classified that way. BB are rap and Madonna is pop.
Anyways, I think its great Madonna got in. She is a great model for women musicians! And, man, didn't so many of us listen to Madonna when we were growing up? I certainly did!
I do agree that BB should be inducted at some point because they have had such a HUGE influence on the evolution of music. Maybe next year?
