First American Girl Feature Film: Kit Kittredge

I don't know about you, but before I was all about The Babysitters Club I couldn't get enough of the American Girl book series. Of course, these days there is all sorts of American Girl stuff to accompany the stories, and there are way more than just the basic five or six characters I grew up with.

With fond American Girl memories in mind, I recently watched the trailer for the first American Girl feature film: Kit Kittredge, with Abigail Breslin in the starring role. Kit Kittredge is a Depression-era American Girl with (what else?) a go-getter attitude and a fierce determination to become a great journalist. With a supporting cast that includes Joan Cusack, Stanley Tucci, Chris O'Donnell and Jane Krakowski, I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing this movie.

I was obsessed with American Girl Dolls when I was younger. I had all 5 of them and all the books and stuff. Now that I think about it, my parents were NUTS to spend that much money on me, haha.

I liked the American Girl series when I was younger too. I always wanted the Samantha doll but I never got one.

I always wanted the Kit doll but my parents never bought her for me. Then they turn around and buy my sister an American Girl doll which she totally didn't take care of.

aaah! i had the molly doll except without her glasses she was basically samantha, who was my favorite. my grandma even gave me the real person size clothes (which now is an office reference, angela, get it? anyways...) i rocked that purple american girl jacket and buttons on it. woo - it was hot.

I LOVED my Samantha Doll and had the little sailor suit play out fit which came with all kinds of accessories like a butterfly net and fake butterflies. Oh my god. I still have her tucked away in a box. I wanted the Felicity doll too, and her suitcase too. Random. ps Movie looks cute, too.

I had Samantha, Molly, and Addy. My sister has Kit. Now we both have hundreds of dollars worth of dolls getting dusty in the guest bedroom.

I had Molly and I think I got her in the first couple of years they came out. At the time it was just Kirsten, Molly and Samantha. I had so much stuff. I can't believe how much my mom spent.

I'm glad the dolls are so popular now. I would rather girls like them than Bratz or Barbie.

American Girl dolls are wonderful. Even though Molly is my favorite, like you, Buzz, I am looking forward to this movie. Abigail Breslin seems to be a good choice for Kit.

Oooooh i LOVE American Girl! I used to read their books. I love how they had all different kinds of girl in different eras. I liked Samantha, Molly, and the Native American Girl. I wish I had owned a doll and those cute little accessories they have!

I had the kirsten doll and my sister had felicity... I remember I used to read those books in a day and I tried to perform one of those plays.I hope that they make a movie based on one of the original 5 American girls. Is Abigail Breslin that little girl from Signs??? I'm also glad to see Chris Odonnell again I wondered what happened to him.

OMG Kit was my favorite in the american girl series, then it was samantha. unfornutely i never got one even thought it's what i've always wanted for christmas. *tear*. lol. anyways my little counsin has the Kit doll maybe i'll take her to see it.

As a kid, I had the Kirsten doll, plus her trunk, bed and her table and chairs! I also had Samantha. I got a catalong in the mail recently (addressed to my home's previous owner) and I was just floored at the number of characters, and the customizable dolls as well!
