After much fan-geek speculation and swirling rumors across the Internet, we finally have an official glimpse of what the JJ Abrams' "monster movie" will entail. Titled Cloverfield for sure, the movie now has an official website and a trailer that has been showing before some screenings of Beowulf. After the jump you can see a real video of the trailer instead of just the shaky bootleg versions taken by people at movie theaters.
Then again, that shaky "real life" sense would be in keeping with the actual movie, so there's something kind of neat and trippy about watching an audience member's filmed version of what looks like other peoples' home videos. But I digress. The movie is like The Blair Witch Project in its shakycam realistic style, making it seem like we're watching found footage of a crazy monster attack on New York. There's not much more to say about it than that. It's pretty creepy, especially seeing things like the head of the Statue of Liberty crash and roll on the street. Yipes! You can check out the trailer below before Cloverfield hits theaters January 18 if you read more

I saw these same trailers at the movies like a year ago. Is this suppose to be new or maybe it's longer?
1Oi... the expanding girl gives me the creeps. I'm pretty excited for this. Exciting that we finally catch a glimpse of the monster!
2Wow, I was officially creeped out! Man 2008 is going to be the best year ever! With Jumper, I am Legend, and Cloverfield coming out, I'm going to be BUZY!
3the trailer made me sick and gave me a headache.
4not sure if i can handle the whole movie with the shaky camerawork
I agree. The shaky camera makes me sick too. I love the concept of the movie and would like to watch it though but I won't be able to if the movie is full of shaky shots.
5Ahhh...JJ Abrams is definitely a genius when it comes to LOST. I have very high expectations for Cloverfield! I'm so excited!
6i love Lost , so like the one above me said , i have high expectation about this movie, but after i sew the trailer I'm a little disappionted!
7I have no idea what's going on in this trailer, if the whole movie is shot like this I'll pass. The "real life" shot films irritate the crud out of me.
8Worst Movie Ever. I couldn't watch it, it gave me motion sickness. i wanted to leave but the boy wanted to see what happened. We both regretted staying along with the entire audience.
9it was the only movie i have ever actually considered walking out of. Oh and it had no story line.
