The next horror movie remake coming down the pipeline is Friday the 13th, which recently got a director: Marcus Nispel, who also helmed the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Apparently the new Friday the 13th won't be a cookie-cutter remake, but will get a bit of a makeover:
"While Jason made only a brief appearance in the final frames of the first movie in 1980 and didn't even don his famous mask until the third movie, the new movie will focus on Jason — who will wear the mask and kill — and keep the famous setting of Crystal Lake."
What do you think? Do you want to see a new Friday the 13th? Or should filmmakers just leave well enough alone?

It's a classic people!
1No thanks.
2theres an original for a reason,...because it's ALREADY BEEN DONE!
3Remakes keep the story alive and most ppl can associate with the actors of their generation. It would be interesting!
4Good Grief, NO!
There's like 17 of these movies as it is!
No, No No, Stop it already!
5No. I have seen enough of these movies.
6No - Aren't their already something like 17 of them
7I would like to see an updated version... The early 80's ones seem, well, dated.... They have remade everything else, right?
8unless it has Kevin Bacon getting speared through the neck after sex...i am not watching it.
9Are there no more original ideas anymore???
10they shouldn't do a remake, just Friday the 13th Part 12. i had always thought they were gonna do 13. doing a remake seems ridiculous, just make another part and have it set during 2007/2008.
11This is getting ridiculous. Apparently no one has ideas for new movies and has to keep remaking old ones. What happened to Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash? I heard they were making that. I would actually go see that and see Ash kick their butts!
12I am torn on this. I like the series (as ridiculous as they often are, I watch them mostly for laughs, not scares). A reboot could be the kind of fresh blood this now corny/campy series needs, and bring it into the newer generation of viewers. On the other hand, there is part of me that cringes at people messing with a classic like the first Friday. Like it or hate it, it was one of the first of its kind.
13HAHAHA - Caterpillargirl!!!
14Well.. I'd rather see a remake than another sequel.

@ caterpillergirl!
16Are there not any unique ideas in Hollywood?
17I would love to see a remake of this!
18Kinda depends. The original was good and it was good b/c it was his freaked out mom. I don't know about this.
Wouldn't it be nice if they could reinvent the slasher movie and think of a new character with a new backstory and a new legend? I'm going to recommend checking out a great film called Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. A great send-up of the whole slasher film era...and it's original, something different and worth seeing. I'd rather see more of that. Go see Hatchet. Support filmmakers who are actually trying to think of new ways of telling the slasher story while putting enough of the slasher rules in there for us to laugh at too.
Lazy. Lazy. Lazy. Try something new, which also means they should quit butchering good Asian horror films too.
19Nope. Remakes suck.
20I'd like to see it. but i love scary movies, especially those terrible B scary movies.
