So, in a normal week, this is when I'd write something about how The Office seemed just a bit off last night. It might be when I'd wonder why every episode this season has had a significant part of the action happen outside the actual office, even though the office bits are what makes the show so relatable and funny. But knowing it's the next-to-last episode for who knows how long makes me want to go easy on the show. After all, "Survivor Man" still gave me some of the best laughs I've gotten from TV this week, from Michael's duct-taped pants to Jim's iron fist cracking down on the birthday celebrations. Here were some of my favorite parts:

- Even when Ryan's not in an episode, he can still be a jerk! He didn't invite Michael on the wilderness retreat, so Michael decided to take to the woods himself. Michael to Jim: "Hypothetically, if I were to ask you to go camping — and you know what a hypothetical means? Not real?"
- What have they done to Toby? His weird, greasy bangs were just gross.
- Michael tells Jim he needs to get away from the office for a while — "All the cliques and the office politics, fluorescent lights, asbestos — "
Jim: "I thought we had that looked at."
More highlights if you read more
- Loved the montage of where Dwight hides his weapons around the office. There's a dart gun in the toilet, and a knife filed under Mr. A. Knife.
- Dwight to Michael: "I would never leave you for dead. You would never escape. I would make sure that you were dead, believe me. And then I would remove your teeth, and cut off your fingertips so you could not be identified, and they would call me the Overkill Killer."
- Come to think of it, this episode was big on funny montages. I had to keep rewatching the one with Michael's overwhelming love of birthday surprises.
- "Tell her it's for Creed. She'll know what that means."
- In the woods, Dwight claims he'll let Michael die, but he'll never let him lose his dignity. Cut to Michael wearing cutoff suit shorts.
- Stanley: "I took an extra shot of insulin in preparation for this cake today. If I don't have some cake soon I might die."
- Apparently Jim shares Michael's hatred of Toby; his imitation of Toby's mealy-mouthed "I don't see the harm in that" was awesome.
- Was that our first "that's what she said" of the season?
- Michael's speech at the end was pretty classic: "Man became civilized for a reason. He decided that he'd like to have warmth and clothing and television and hamburgers and to walk upright and to have a soft futon at the end of the day. He didn't want to have to struggle to survive. I don't need the woods. I have a nice wood desk. I don't need fresh air, because I have the freshest air around: AC. And I don't need wide open spaces. Check it out. (swivels his monitor to show a picture of the Grand Canyon) I can also make it the sky."

What did you think of this week's episode? What were your favorite lines? And how are you going to cope with only one new episode?

Phyllis calling Jim 'Michael'... was pretty hilarious.
As was the surprise montage, I don't think I've laughed that hard in while.
And Jim realizing he's slowly becoming Michael.
I think they've already done a "that's what she said" during "Launch Party." Although, Michael planned it so I'm not sure if that really counts.
1I didn't like this episode that much. I just didn't laugh as much as usual. I think it would've been much funnier if we'd seen Michael on the retreat with Ryan, etc.
2Haha funny episode but it was too much Michael ... and I didn't like seeing people not like Jim.
I was also dying at the suit all duct taped together and the weapons all around the office. I loved how the one weapon you needed to use your mouth for was in the toilet ... classic!
3The duct taped suit was great, but I agree--too much Michael and not enough of the office banter that really makes the show work. But, I'll miss seeing original episodes in the upcoming weeks.
4I loved the "Mr.A.Knife" file, I laughed pretty hard at that entire montage.
5The "that's what she said" jokes at the end were funny. I loved the montage of Michael scaring the sh*t out of people with the birthday surprise. I LOVED Andy's request for a Fudgie the Whale cake. And his fist pump in the background when Anegla told Jim she had ordered the Fudgie the Whale cake. Andy is becoming my favorite character. I also loved the look Dwight gave the camera when Michael was about to eat the mushrooms.
6Did you hear that there is only one more show until the writer strike is over? That is a bummer....I love this show
7I enjoyed most of the in-office stuff better than the Michael stuff; however, did anyone else notice the hilarious parallel of Michael talking about surviving in the wilderness, and Dwight, of course, actually being able to survive out there (cooking the eggs, spotting the bad mushrooms, etc.). Subtle, but on-point. And wow, Jim morphed into a Michael Lite pretty quickly! At least he came to his senses thanks to Phyllis! Loved it, as usual.
8As someone who became recently obsessed with Survivorman, I thought Michael's survivorman was dead on. So funny!
9HELLO !!!!!
10How could you not mention Phyllis calling Jim, "Michael"... that right there is classic!
I laughed so hard I almost peepee'd
this episode was very funny. it was awesome how jim was turning into michael and the surprise montage, but i just like it better when they stay in the office. i think the only reason they did this survivor episode was because nbc was doing all there shows dealing with nature and saving the world because of green week. i don't think they would of done this other wise
11Hilarious! I loved the surprise montage too...so funny.
12I thought it was great when Jim wanted to talk to the Office and Pam pipes up, "Conference room?"
Pam could totally tell Jim was screwing up, but she let him realize it on his own.
So funny! As a manager myself (who tries to avoid acting like Michael), it was hilarious to see how easily Jim started to morph into Michale!
13It was a great episode - however, I miss the hour-long ones!
It ended really cute - with Michael and Jim actually being nice to eachother! Awww... Jim is a young version of Michael! Who'd have thought!
14I miss the hour long episodes too! They were hilarious!
I just didn't think this one was funny. I don't know...
I hope Jim doesn't become Michael. That's a scary thought!
15yes Phyllis calling Jim Michael, classic.
16But the whole montage of the "surprise" had me laughing for awhile.
I do miss the hour long office, yesterday's episode felt really short.
I like the espidode... the problem was my timing. I saw first 30 rock... jajajaja I left all my laughs on that show!!!
But I kind of scream with Phyllis reactions to "Michael wasn't invited" and when she call Jim Michael.
And Pam trying to fool poor Jim "to the conference room" jajaja
17Another good office, I agree w/some of the others, too much Michael however
181. michael's cut offs were hilarious
2. Dwight hiding all the weapons:-)so funny
3. phyllis calling Jim, Michael...scary funny
4. surprise b-days were up there
I wish they could bring all the characters in more often, but then we would need to go back to hour long shows...jim and pam forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and I totally prefer Bear Grylls(MAN VS. WILD)over the Survivorman any day
19Did anyone else notice that after Michael yelled surprise at Phyllis she started laughing? Was that a character goof?
I think the surprise bit of Michael's was the best! I don't like when people don't like Jim though- and I really don't want to see him turning into Michael!
20This whole episode was HILARIOUS! I loved how Michael was totally trying to BE Survivorman! OH! OH! And how he was screaming out in the middle of the forest: "I HAVE HEMORRHOIDS!!!" So freakin funny. (I still sometimes yell out "I DECLARE BANKRUPTCY!!" for no reason.) Did anyone else notice how this episode was written by Steve Carrell?
21wait...i didnt get the "to the confrence room" thing...was there more too it?
22so aside from this ep. ..
my friend pointed out to me that jim resembles grommit from the movie "wallace and gromit" ... i never realized that til now. haha.
still hot tho... even tho he's a spitting image of grommit [or wallace in this case].
23...oh i thought phyllis was starting to cry when he surprised her in her car.
24Toby's "greasy bangs"? I took one look at him and started giggling...I assumed it was part of the joke that he had spent all his weekend outdoors and had barely enough time to get properly dressed for work Monday morning. Very he-man of Toby.
25even if the episode wasn't that funny... the last five minutes with michael and jim was worth it. i'm always a fan of character development even in the middle of the laughs.
anyway... i love this show and to think that there may only be one more episode for a very long time... well, that makes me sad...
26that last part totally hinting at the bbc storyline with jim realizing he doesn't want to be a paper seller forever.
27i loved how everyone in the office lit up when michael showed just in time to finish off the happy birthday song... aww, they like him; they really like him!!
Yeah, when Michael showed up at the end to make the crew realize he's good for something, ie making them all feel special on their birthdays...
Um, I think the "conference room" thing is b/c Michael always wants to have meetings in the conference room. Pam was messing with him.
28kikila - Yah, I really like that they're developing this storyline like they did with Tim and Brent.
I thought this was a great episode! Lots of laughs. Soooo bummed that we only have one more.
