The pensive and delicate "Little Motel" stands out among the more raucous songs on Modest Mouse's latest album, We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. And the stunning new video is a far cry from the nautical-themed highjinks we saw in the clip for "Dashboard."
The visuals for "Little Motel" are more like an indie movie, complete with backwards storytelling, a la Memento. so the mom wanted to keep him with her son with her as long as possible.
i'd have to ask though, why didn't she take him home instead of to some hotel room?
1i should have previewed: *so the mom wanted to keep him with her as long as possible.
2i love modest mouse and great to see it getting some postings here in sugarland. anyways, great song it is different from there other songs but the video isn't as creative as the others do. i wish i could tell you what the twist means, buzz. i didn't even get memento. lol.
3OMFG MODEST MOUSE
4I guess sometimes when tragedies happen to us, we can't deal with them. So we don't. I guess the mom in this case couldn't take the loss of her son (who could?) and so took him somewhere where she could try to beleive everything was okay.
And why the motel? I imagine it's because no one would find her there. If someone could just walk in and disrupt her fantasy, I guess there wouldn't be much point to it.
Good video, by the way. Modest Mouse is awesome.
