One of the most mysterious series of the fall is "Moonlight," which premieres tonight on CBS. I even put it on my list of five toss-up shows simply because it's been thoroughly overhauled since we first heard about it at the upfronts back in May. The only constants: star Alex O'Loughlin and the basic plot, about an immortal vampire-slash-private eye.
I finally got the chance to check out the first episode of "Moonlight," and in a word, it's ridiculous. In fact, it's "New Amsterdam"-style ridiculous. Like "New Amsterdam," though, "Moonlight" has the potential to be kind of fun, in that "hey, I'm not doing much on Friday night; let's open some wine and poke fun at this show'" kind of way.
Two reasons to watch for real: O'Loughlin, who's pretty easy on the eyes, and Jason Dohring — late of "Veronica Mars" — who has some of the best scenes in the first episode. To check out a brief "interview with the vampire," just read more

i'm almost ready to watch it just for Jason Dohring... a little logan is always a good thing. however, even the promos look kind of ridiculous...
1I thought the promos actually looked good. Especially the Interview with a Vampire one. Shows a lighter side to the show. That kind of thing draws me in. I don't want it to be all dark gloomy vampire drama. The lighter moments are what will keep me coming back. Looking forward to this tonight.
2I really liked the interview thing they did, so I'm going to watch and check it out. Watching Logan as a vampire is quite intriguing (yes, I know his name's not Logan but he'll always be Logan to me, as David Anders will always be Sark to me).
We'll see how it goes, then.
3This is going to turn out like my obstinate viewership of "Drive" last season- this looks to be as bad, but my love of all things Nathan Fillion and Jason Dohring can be a punishing love.
4LOL. me too! i watched drive only for nathan fillion and moonlight is going on my dvr list just because of jason dohring. (but really, this looks like a lame ripoff of angel.)
5I'll watch it; I have it set to record tonight. I love storys/shows about vampires trying to do good; so I'll check this out. Plus the vampire is hot!!
6sounds kinda weird...not worth my time to watch. i don't know what else to say, i am mostly commenting because a lot of the other posts are spoilers for shows haven't yet seen.
oh man. sucky.
7LOVED this show! The lead actor is amazing and its not anything like Angel or Buffy....which I was afraid of.
8good to know faery, i still haven't watched it yet (on dvr) but was assuming Jason Dohring would be the only good thing about it.
9this show is nothing like angel or buffy (and if it were, i think i joss would be supremely embarrassed). vampires are merely humans who live forever and drink blood - not much more. where's the struggle? where's the passion? where's the tinge of danger? what's the point? what was so great about angel and buffy was the metaphor that monsters represented. this show is all about a vampire who solves crimes, but without intelligent writing and any dimension. he is like a guy with super powers but no inner demons to make him remotely interesting. jason dohring - go find rob thomas and beg him to write something for you that shows how great an actor you are. kevin weisman - you can get on lost, you know jj. sophia myles - i am sure len wiseman is still making movies and please stop speaking in an american accent - ugh.
10I really loved this show. It was amazing!
11I gave it a try, and will probably watch it again, but Dohring is definitely not as good as when he played Logan on V Mars. I'm hoping it will get better now that they are past the introductory pilot difficulties of introducing things.
