There are a few high-profile premieres tonight — NBC's sci-fi update "Bionic Woman" and ABC's glitzy "Dirty Sexy Money" among them — but I doubt any of them will get more scrutiny than "Private Practice." I mean, we've been talking about this show since February, we watched (or, some would say, suffered through) the backdoor pilot, and we've gotten an almost endless stream of promotion for the show and its star, Kate Walsh.
Now it's time to see if all the hype translates into a good show. I haven't seen the full first episode, but most of the reviews I've read say it's still not very good (though a few have said it could redeem itself). My biggest fear is that Addison will turn into a dumbed-down ditz, which seems entirely possible from the previews I've seen so far. (Dancing naked? And then babbling about how hot you look naked? Really, is this the same tough Addy who tormented Izzie and Meredith for the better part of two years?)
Still, I'll be tuning in tonight, even as I brace myself for a letdown. Are you game for giving this spinoff a try? To watch a preview, just read more

ugh i'm so not watching this crap filled spin-off.
1I'm looking forward to it....I enjoyed the spin-off, it will never be as good as GA but Tim Daly will keep me watching!!
2I'll check it out...
3I thought the pilot episode was good and I really like Amy Brennemen and also the guy that was on Prison Break.....
4i'm tuning in
5Definately not I am giving up on GA and this spinoff especially after what GA pulled last season with Izzie and George
6I feel like Private Practice is just Grey's Anatomy with/for 30-somethings. Not interested, even if it will be better than that crap "pilot."
7I only recently saw the "pilot" for this - was NOT impressed.
8spin-offs are really worthless, look how joey turned out from friends...
9Ill check it out but I really sot believe tat its going to be that great
10will watch it but not expecting much. I love medical dramas, but the pilot just made it seem to be 30-40 year olds hooking up- who happen to be doctors. I really want GA to be good this year and will watch it.
11I'm going to check it out. I really like Kate Walsh, but I don't know if it will make it past one season...
12buzz that was what i was afraid too, that addison was going to get all ditzy now. i mean besides miranda, addison was the next character i was afraid especially when she first came in to the cast.
13I think that the character of Addison looks kind of lame now (don't harm me!!! I said kind of).
I hope this gets better. I only like the character on Grey's.
14Im so pumped for tonight!
Ive seen the first two episodes and can PROMISE episode 2 is a lot better than what we'll see tonight. Episode 1 isnt bad, but episode 2 is just ridiculously good.
15I watched it and enjoyed it
16I watched the first half, couldn't watch the rest, but I wasn't very sorry for missing it. I hate to say it, but it was too bland for me. I will give it another chance because I loved Addison's character so much on GA. And then there's always the cute Prison Break guy
17"we've been talking about this show since February"
I must be living under a rock because I've never heard of this show.
18Did anyone see her on the View today? God, she's gorgeous, her legs are to die for and I loved her dress. Hopefully, the show will do well, I like her but I'm only gonna watch for Taye Diggs, if I watch at all.
19Ok it wasn't bad but I wasn't thrilled either...don't know what I expected. I can tell you that I do like the relationship between Cooper, the pediatrician and Violet, the shrink. They play off each other really well in my opinion.
20Not sure why she was tagged to have a spinoff anyway. I find her uninteresting and bland as an actress, her character was annoying, and I don't think she has the charisma to be the centerpiece of an ensemble cast. Reminds me of when Suddenly Susan came out. Brooke Shields has horrible comedic timing, isn't a good actress, but the rest of the ensemble cast was fantastic (so good that i ended up watching the show anyway).
Tim Daly and Taye Diggs *may* be enough to lure me in once the regular season is over and in repeats...until then I'll be tuning in elsewhere.
Dirty Sexy Money, however, hit the nail on the head. Awesome ensemble cast, didn't take itself too seriously but wasn't cutesy about it...like a more grown up version of gossip girl (which is also delicious). LOOOOVED it!
