"The sun rises on a new dawn."
"Heroes" is so back! This week's season two premiere brought us right back to the lives of Claire, Hiro, Mohinder, Parkman, the Petrelli family and many more old and new characters. If I have any complaint it's that they crammed a ton of storylines into one season premiere. It was getting a little crowded for my tastes. And we didn't even see some of the old familiars at all, like Sylar, Niki, DL or Micah.
If you missed the episode and want to catch up on everything that happened, you can watch the full episode on NBC's website. For some of my thoughts and to share your own in the comments (spoilers ahead), then read more
- So many people and heroes! We've got the Claire and HRG (whose first name we now know, but he will be HRG here) story and now Claire's boy West. We've got the stuff going on with Angela Petrelli and Hiro's father, and then Molly with her two dads, Mohinder and Parkman. Then there's Hiro himself and his "hero," the not-so-Japanese Takezo Kensei, and now there's the swordsmith's daughter to deal with. Next up we have the Honduras siblings, Maya and Alejandro, with Maya possessing a kind of violent power she can't seem to control. And finally, we have the Irish thugs who find Peter Petrelli with a fetching new haircut, chained up and looking frantic. Whew!
- Claire and HRG continue to love being father-daughter. This week's episode brought us the scene that was filming when these pictures were taken. Will Claire and HRG’s relationship ever lose that whiff of incestuous desire? I think not.
- I was about to write that I think that Molly is probably the most darling child on television... until she went crazy on Parkman. Also there's this: What is it about creepy kid drawings that scare the living daylights out of me?
- First use of the word "hero" of Season Two: at minute 10, when Hiro meets Takezo Kensei.
- Anyone else notice that Ando and Nathan bump into each other on the street? Were there other brushes between heroes that I didn't catch?
- Mr. Muggles is back!
- Nathan looks like a lumberjack. And not the sexy kind.
- I love seeing Ando and George Takei again. It’s like seeing old buddies after a long absence. What? Do I watch too much TV or something?
- HRG’s boss at the copy place has a douchey mustache to go with his personality. Also, this made me laugh: "The paper business is dog eat dog."
- God is mentioned more than usual in this week's episode: first from Maya who says "God would not have done this to me without a chance for salvation," and then a Japanese woman leaving her ravaged village says "Is there no God to protect us?"
- When I saw that West could fly, I actually thought to myself, "I wish my boyfriend could fly."
- This stuff seems important: Hiro's father, Kaito Nakamura, says to Angela that there are nine left in The Company. He states that they are all very powerful and any of them could be leaving the photos with the "Godsend" symbol over the faces. Then, when Katio is attacked, he says "Of all of them, I never expected it would be you." I'm dying to know who it is! And I'm refusing to believe that Kaito is gone for good.
What did you think of the Season Two premiere of "Heroes"?

I too refuse to believe that it's the end for Kaito.
11) What is Peter doing chained up in a container in Ireland?! Why does he have amnesia?!
2) What was the creepy, mutlitated flash that Nathan-The-Bearded saw in the mirror? And why the beard? Does he not want to be attractive to anyone, ever?
3) Yeah, seriously, who pushed Daddy Hiro off the balcony?
4) Woohoo, Sark is back!
5) Loving that someone is calling Claire to the carpet on hiding her identity
6) Not loving that I have to wait a freaking week to see what happens. Thought it was fabulous, if not too short. Is two hours of TV completely out of the question?
2I missed Heroes. It was a lot to take in last night - it left this thing hanging over you not knowning what the heck happened in the last four months - but I know we are soon to find out.
I wasn't sure what cities you guys watched - but in Phoenix every commerical was the same Nissan Rouge commerical - sometimes three in a ROW!! I was going nuts!
3I thought it was great. The writers always tell us what we need to know when we need to know it. I'm always left satisfied when I watch Heroes.
I'm already working on some interesting theories.
*taps fingertips together like Mr. Burns*
4genvessel, I think Peter was shipped there on purpose by HRG and Mohinder and whoever else is plotting to take down The Company.
I think Peter has amnesia because of the Hatian. Peter is wearing the Hatian's necklace!
Maybe the Irishman is going to assist them in some way. He seemed unfazed when Peter zapped his colleague. Maybe he's a hero too...or one of The Company that's good.
5okay yeah i have the same questions as genvessel. HELP! ajjaaj answer themmmm
6NBC's website sucks, I was halfway done before when their "choose an episode" thingy opened up and blocked the entire screen out. And you can't even skip it!
But from what I've seen so far, its going to be an exciting season! xD
7loved, plus they have new stars. are kirsten and zachary dating in real life?
8just finished watching it on nbc.com (missed half of it last night cuz of a late dinner!). omg, too many Nissan commercials! anyone else notice that Claire's new car was a Rogue? oh lord, i shouldn't know what it's called!
in other Heroes commentary:
1. LOVE that Takezo Kensei is a douche-y (yet hot) Englishman. I think Hiro will now have to aid the Swordsmith's daughter and become the new Takezo like he's dreamed about.
2. Whatever happened to Parkman's wife? Wasn't she pregnant? Also, did he and Mohinder adopt Molly? How's that working?
3. Oh jeez, i just want answers! I really wish it were a two-hour season premiere. The show is just that great!
9Definitely not a sexy lumberjack.
10Here is my recap On episode 1-four months later.
I really thought that after so many months of no Heroes that I would be lost, but I was sucked right back in within 5 minutes and everything was smooth sailing. We see our heroes spread out to the far corners. Mohinder is giving a speech on the disease that killed his sister and he runs into Needle Nose Ned or “guy in glasses” played by Stephen Tobolowsky who wants to sponsor mohinders research (he obviously is from the same covert operation that Mr Bennett worked for) and he has the Midas Touch , which I wouldn’t want to have since gold doesn’t look good on me. We then see Matt using his power to make detective, living with mohinder and has custody of Molly who is now drawing scary helix’s and evil eyes, and when asked about this over nutritious take out pizza she gets all teenage hormonal and goes to her room. Later Matt listens to her nightmares and hears “I can see you” and molly tells matt that he would surely die if she told him where this season two baddie is.
Onto Clare who is being dropped off by daddy at the new school, which lets kids wear short skirts and show their bellies, must be California. She is told to keep her powers on the down low because the company is still looking for her, which means “don’t try out for cheerleader” pffft, Claire do something she is told not too? Poppycock
At new school, we meet cute new guy interest played by Nicholas D’Agosto, who I know from “Election” with Reese Witherspoon. He tells Claire everyone is either a robot or an alien, you either do what you are told or you don’t basically which one is she? Duh, the girl has one facial expression…robot. There are cheerleaders at this school, and they are led by what I like to call “new school girl stereotype1” She is blonde, pretty, popular and mean. Claire gets between miss stereotype and some nameless nerd and takes the dare to do some cheerleading back tuck whatever off the tower (where were the teachers? Anyone see any?) when she gets up there she realizes this might call attention to her and she doesn’t do it….until they all leave and the mats are gone and she breaks her ankle. The whole scene around Mr. Bennetts work was only there to show just what sacrifices he is making to keep everyone safe. And at home, life is boring and Mr Muggles gives good tongue. Oh and New guy? Can fly, like dear old dad.
Intermittingly we see some siblings who are trying to escape into America to find Mohinder. The girl can make people bleed from the eyes and as a blogger at Tvsquad said “she has the power of ebola”, it will be interesting to see all the new heroes emerge.
Hiro is in the past, looking for his hero Kensei, finds out he is a british white dude who only wants to profit from his endeavors. Hiro is devastated at this news, and I predict that Hiro will take over for the british guy and become the Kensei of legend.
Ando and Sulu are hanging, when Sulu gets a picture of himself with the helix in red which is code for “you will be dead soon” some mysterious guy who he recognizes fulfills that code. Mrs. Petrelli also receives a picture but I won’t be upset if she is gone. Nathan is not blown to bits, but has gone and grown a nice manly thick beard which I happen to find attractive. Is Peter gone for good, no he is tied to the inside of a railroad car in Ireland, where apparently there are 3 Irish guys who didn’t take to the accent training NBC provided. I think I recognized Star Trek Enterprise Alum Dominic Keating who played Malcolm as one of the “Irish” guys. So Peter isn’t dead, but he is Nekkid and has amnesia, that might make for good ogling.
So what are the questions from this episode?
-Who is the evil eye helix guy in mollies dreams?
-How will mohinder pull off working with the company?
-Will Claire try out for cheerleading (doesn’t that seem so trivial?)
-Is Sulu dead? And who is the Hoody guy who killed him? And is Mrs Petrelli next?
-Will Hiro become his Hero?
-What exactly is Mayas Power and will her and her hot brother reach Mohinder
-What is wrong with naked Peter, and will he stay naked just for me?
- Where are the rest of the Heroes?
I will rate this episode 8 out of 10. I really loved it, and I cant wait for this season.
11gold1120, they've been friends for ten years. So, I'd say no.
I'd say no for another reason...but I think it's inappropriate to share that theory.
12Is there an association between Alias and Heroes? It just struck me a couple of times - Parkman/Weiss obviously, but then Sark (YESSS!!! Can he come to the future??) and the whole car placement thing - when Claire said "yes the Rogue!" I couldn't help but remember "Quick - jump in the Ford Escape!" from Alias!
PS - good call on the Haitian - I didn't even notice the necklace!
13mohinder and parkman sitting on a tree... K-I-S-S-I-N-G...
SORRY
14I TOTALLY agreed with the commercials!! The first time it happened, I thought "Someone at NBC just got fired for messing that up." then it kept happening and I thought "Okay, you would've thought that they would've at least been ready with more than one commercial!!!"
15yeah, I got some of that too
1- my bro an dI did notice that Peter has the haitan necklace... so haitan, amnesia...
162- there it went our dear "sweet" molly.
3- daddy hiro I think is dead... but I don't think they will get mama petrelli.
4- what about maya saying that they run more than 50 miles, they don't say miles in south america... some of them didn't even know they are miles and kilometers. He talks very well spanish, she... study hard the script.
and, anybody else is reading the graphic novels??
my bro and I think that Maya's deathly power doesn't affect people if his bro is around (jah my bro and I are twins like them), that's why she said "esta cometiendo un error" (you are making a mistake)
and the freaking commercials.. my bro said, "don't go, they are gonna be so few commercials..." but but.. well if they told does the're gonna be few differents commercials...
17Am I the only one who thought West's little voyeurist flying scene was creepy? His face was really hard to read too. I'm not completely sold on him being a good guy.
18I'm playing catch up with Heroes, but I enjoyed the premiere.
19When he said that about the paper business being dog eat dog, all I could think of was Dunder Mifflin!
I was booorrrrred. Loved David Anders' "new" British accent however.
20I agree with CaterpillarGirl those irish accents were awful!
21soooo excited! i mean yeah it was a bit confusing, but im dying to see what happened to sylar, and how peter got into and wll get out of his predicament.
22OMG this is one of my favorite shows!!!I am so happy its back. I think Claire is awesome!!
23I am so glad Heroes is back. I've missed all of the characters so much, even Mohinder. I'm really glad to see that James Kyson Lee is now a regular cast member as Ando is my 2nd fave character (behind Nathan).
I'm not too keen on some of the new characters. I do like Kensei (the actor just rocks) and Maya & Alejandro. I did not like Molly, who seemed like a precocious brat (even with her big bad guy problems). I think the problem is that the Heroes writers do not know how to write convincing lines for children. And I really really hated West, who is too emo for me to stomach. Anyone who has to continually postulate whether you're an alien or a robot seems judgmental and pretentious.
I wonder if the Swordsmith's daughter is the real hero behind the Kensei legend.
24What was with West spying on Claire? Is he the token stalker/ blackmailer for this season? I can't look at Molly the same way, after she yelled at Parkman. And I gotta wait a week for the next episode? Boo! But, better than the whole summer.
25man that was sooooooooooooooooooooo good last night
26i had forgotten how much i'd missed it
i cant wait to see more
and who's the creepy dude checking up on claire?
So I didn't think that was Nathan that Ando ran into... I thought it was the invisible man. And I had initially thought that he would have slipped the picture into the newspaper when Ando bumped into him. But I don't like to think that. I liked that man and his accent.
27Just my thoughts: Nathan killed Takei and Hiro is the hero in the legend.
I saved it so I get to watch it again. Too much information to handle. So glad for tivo...i didn't have to sit through the nissan commercials.
28i think West is a bad guy. he's working for the company that HRG and Mohinder are trying to fight. did you see that evil look on his face as he was watching claire? it was creepy. IMHO, he's a total bad guy. anyone else agree?
29Stacygirl and I seem to be on the same page about that
30my theory: peter is being used by the baddies to kill off the nine. maybe it was just the hoodie on takei's killer looking particularly emo that made me think peter but...it would make sense, fitting into his amnesia and all that.
31I didn't like last night's episode. Weird.
32irish accents were't awful... they were accurate... that's the dialect of cork - so way to go to NBC on that. However, 15th century Japaneese people wouldn't have had monotheism in their culture, so the random reference to "God" by that woman is a little odd...
Didn't make the connection about the Hatian and the Necklace until now... that crosses one off my list
33yay sark! peter! hiro!! woot woot HEROES is BACK!!
34I was disappointed by the finale and not really thrilled by last night's premiere. I'm going to give this a few more weeks and then make my decision to stop watching or hang in there. Right now I don't know....
35Hmmmm....I loved the season premiere. I was sad the Parkman and his wife weren't any longer together, but she did cheat on him, so... And Molly, can you say freak?!?!!? What was that whole screamo deal about? Oh, and I love how getting blown up makes Milo more ripped and gives him a fresh new haircut. Nice one Editors!
36the whole time i was worried Peter wasnt going to be in the episode, so YAY FOR THE LAST 5 MINUTES!!
37the episode was awesome, but they did pack way too much in only an hour.
So I know that Nathan won the election, but is he not in office anymore? I mean it's only been 4 months, but he looked pretty bad.
38It was a great episode but it did seemed to be crammed with too much at once.
39i cant remember who said what about nathan's fried face but i was thinking remember when peter and claire were in new york city peter made both of them disappear. maybe the same thing happend with nathan, peter passed on his ability to heal and thats why nathan looks 'normal'. just a thought.....
40I have to agree with Verily that West was way too "so what are you?" pretentious, but I think I'd be creeped out by him no matter what...his whole Peeping Tom thing was a little too stalker-ish. But otherwise I loved the episode. So glad that Heroes is back!
41I didn't understand the reference to God either.
42I also didn't get a creepy vibe at the end with West, I kind of felt like he was just watching over her. But I'm new to the show, so what do I know, lol.
Okay, I love Mr. Muggles!!!! I watched the part where Mrs. Bennet says his name in a funny voice like five times. It kills me.
43And I'm also glad Peter's emo hair is gone! I was really over the long bangs that hung in his face.
I agree with the others who said West sketches them out. That exaggerated eye roll thing he did before flying off was super weird.
Anyways, I love this show and I'm glad it's back.
I am so excited Heroes is back! I have to say that I was not thrilled with the season finale, and that they tend to have some gaping holes at times - and yet I still love it and am totally addicted to it.
44I didn't catch the Haitain's necklace, thanks for the heads up. I didn't mind not seeing Jessica/Nikki - that character irriates the heck out of me. I did think that was Ando and Nathan bumping into each other.
Lot's of things crammed in - and lots of questions unanswered. Hopefully they'll account for everything.
there's just one thing that got me thinking... when molly wake's up and parkman says "its okay it was just a dream" she says "omg SHE can see me".... but then she change to male genre... and the voice wants feminine at all... so is it a male or a female the new bad guy!????
45oh oh another thing the girl at the end with sylar look just like nikki but with a different hair color!:S or it was just me?
