Pretty much all the suspense of last night's season premiere of "America's Next Top Model" was gone with one look at this picture from the CW that revealed which of the first 33 contestants would make the final 13. But no matter — there was enough pure crazy in the first episode to make it worth watching. I mean, one girl gave Tyra a simulated bikini wax right there on the judges' table, leading Tyra to exclaim that "any girl who gives me a simulated kitty-cat wax is fine with me." I can only imagine what precedent this will set for future cycles.
Anyway. The episode started with the 33 hopefuls boarding a cruise ship in Puerto Rico, where Tyra surprised the girls by making her first appearance in a feather-adorned getup for a little cabaret number, surrounded by gay sailors. (My boyfriend's comment: "The kangaroo costume was better.") Then came a boatload (...get it?) of whining, cattiness, backbiting and posturing between the girls as they prepared for their auditions in front of Tyra and the Jays. The auditions featured a whole lot of weird moments, including one girl pulling a straw paper out of her nose and another being made to walk like a high-fashion butterfly and robot. (That went well.) There also was the usual complement of sob stories from girls who had drug-addicted mothers, blindness in one eye, and Asperger's Syndrome.
In the end, after a photo shoot on the beach, the girls were cut to the 13 finalists, including Heather (the girl with Asperger's), Victoria (a Yale student who thinks some of the other girls are dumb), Jenah (who seems like a good candidate for house brat), and Sarah (who's too big for regular modeling and too small for plus — so, in other words, a normal girl). At this point, I'm rooting for Sarah, but I have a feeling Lisa will end up winning it all. Who's your early pick?

I love ANTM but I am not in love with the cast yet it needs to grow on me still.
1I missed it! love this show though. I'll have to see the rerun later.
2i love heather and victoria thus far, cuz they're both kind of nerdy but still very high fashion looking. i'll be tuned in every week, that's for sure!
3heather is my fav so far but ive already forgotten most of their names...ill know better in a week or so!
4I kinda liked Chantal. Don't like Ebony. that's all I've got so far. favorites reveal themselves later in the season, I think. it's too hard to tell in the season premiere.
5I don't know why, but I have never liked this show...although sometimes it's fun to watch the bratty ones throw their temper tantrums!
6I think Heather is the prettiest. I also like Salecia (sp?), although she is admittedly the VS/SI type.
7Gawd, does there always have to be a "little tyra" someone with a disease, a girl from the ghetto, and a mean one? I love this show, and i am glad tyra picked some "interesting" faces this time around.
8Lisa,to me she is the prettiest..and another girl that went to Tyra's camp..I can't remember her name.

10is lisa the exotic dancer one? if i'm thinking about the right person i think lisa would also do really well. she did great during the swimsuit photoshoot on how she went up under the water without reacting to the water getting in her eyes like how the other girls did.
also i want to know which designer jaslene has sashay her catwalk for? do you think can find out buzz? i love hearing updates about the winners since this is one of my favorite show. watched every season, from adrainne to jaslene.
11dont have a favorite yet, but this season looks good. i watched the premiere last night before gossip girl

13Ebony is the heingous biatch as far as I'm concerned super pumped for next week.
14actually foxymama, there is but the thing is she isn't to big to be considered plus-sized or too skinny to be a thin-sized model, so as buzz and tyra points out she's normal-sized AND i think she's on the on the bottom left sitting down with the long blonde hair. i can now that her problem throughout he show would be figuring out where she fits in, either a plu-sized or not.

17i liked Lisa...and Margita but she got cut. I'm not liking Ebony either coz she's mean and she seemed fake when Tyra asked her about her hardships in life. I also like the "plus-size" one and the bikini waxer (forgot their names)...

I don't understand how Victoria and Mila made the final 13, but Marvita didn't. I thought she was unique and stunning. Mila is SO plain, and Victoria is skinny but has nothing else going for her.

The "plus-sized" is Sarah, the one with a short black dress and brown hair... At the moment, she's the one I'm rooting for. I also kinda like Janet (I think that's her name) and Soleisha (the spelling is so wrong here), but I agree with Buzz, I think Lisa's the woman to beat.
22LOVE lisa!!! i was sad the girl from boston didn't make it....and while ebony was being a pretty big bia!ch, she doesn't seem as bad as some past "bad girls" like jade and whitney.
23This show is always so addicting. I'm rooting for Sarah and Heather. Obviously no plus size girl will ever win. So maybe a normal, nonskeleton one has a chance this time. At least they can't claim that they can't find enough clothes to fit her compared to the other girls like cycle 3's Toccara.

32At the moment my pick is Heather as I think it will be quite interesting to watch her at the shoots. She should bring a unique perspective. But of course... a bit early to lock in my vote for who takes home the win
i like that "selisha" girl... i have NO idea what her name really is. i was bummed the brooklyn girl got cut b/c she had a unique face. her eyes were amazing.
