After countless box office hits, Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence are going back to their roots on network shows In Living Color and Martin.
Each actor portrayed an unfortunate-looking female character on their respective '90s shows — "Sheneneh" for Lawrence and "Wanda" for Foxx, and now the pair will team up to portray them in a movie called Skank Robbers. Stemming from a fake trailer of the same name at a recent awards show, studio Screen Gems picked up the movie, with Foxx and Lawrence writing and producing. Sure, this could be a dime-a-dozen, groan-out-loud flick like one you'd see from Eddie Murphy, but my appreciation for '90s comedy is telling me it could be funny.

that sketch was so dumb at the BET awards. on top of the serious issue that we really don't need even more crap in hollywood that makes a mockery of black women, there's the even more overarching issue that it's not even based on something funny! it's arguable that the characters from the original shows' sketches were funny, but i don't see there being any question that that sketch from the BET awards was just cringeworthy, offensive, and eye rollingly boring.
1I met Jamie Foxx once at a club and the only thing i could think of saying to him was, "I loved you as Wanda." He gave me an odd look and walked away. But seriously the skit where he was the lost member of En Vogue still makes me giggle like a 10 year old.
2I loved In Living Color when I was young. I thought Jim Carey was hilarious on that show, and I loved Damon Wayan's Homey the Clown. I did think Shenana and Wanda were funny but I'm not sure how they will make it a full length feature.
3amrita; thank God there are other informed, logical adults who have not bought into the stupid propoganda perpetrated by the entertainment industry that all whites are racist and yet it's okay for everyone to degrade their own race and ethnicity with offensive portrayals...
4I dont think that they are insulting black women. I think they are just looking to entertain people the way they did back in the day.
