Every Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!
"Tonight, tonight/ Won't be just any night/ Tonight there will be no morning star." I love the music from West Side Story, and I love the film version (which starred Natalie Wood and Rita Moreno). This tragic love story, based on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, pits New York gangs against each other while two star-crossed lovers dream of being together despite all odds. If you could recast the movie version of this musical with new actors, who would you pick for the passionate Tony and Maria? Or Maria's brother Bernardo and Anita? And of course, what about Officer Krupke?

Tony- Zach Efron (Also from HSM 1 & 2) Zach has a great ability to show his emotions and has a wonderful range as an actor. Vanessa and Zach would make the cutest Maria and Tony.

24Maria- Q'orianka Kilcher (The New World. Great young actress. She is part hispanic, grew up speaking spanish, professional dancer and singer, young enough for the part, innocent look etc.)
Tony- Shia LaBeouf (similar qualities as the original Tony.. same hair! lol can play in love, tortured etc. Plus, Im tired of the same old HSM Hudgens/Efron combo. It shouldn't be used for a classic.)
Anita- Nadine Velazquez (Sueno, "Catalina" from My Name is Earl... good dancer.. hot sassy spitfire!)
Bernardo-Jay Hernandez (Mainly remembered in Crazy/Beautiful. Good to play a street tough.. same age as Velazquez. ((Remember Nardo and Anita were older than Maria, but not by that much.. they were only mid to late 20's..not in their 40's!!)) A good dancer and equally as hot!)
Officer Krupke- John C. Reilly (perfect to play a stodgey jerk busting kids!)
