Talk about buzz marketing. Next month, the CW will start serving up a new signature cocktail to promote its funny new show "Reaper," about a guy who becomes a bounty hunter for the devil when he turns 21.

Starting Sept. 3, bars in 10 major cities around the country will begin pouring The Reaper, a vermouth-and-sloe gin mix. In New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, more than two dozen bars will also show promo clips of the show on their big-screen TVs.

In an effort to avoid sounding like they're pushing booze, the CW is also offering a non-alcoholic recipe and attempting to limit the over-21 version to one per customer (we'll see how that goes). Meanwhile, if no bar in your area is serving up The Reaper, you can just make your own. To see the full recipe, which Yum has promised to make for me before the show's Sept. 25 premiere, just read more

The Reaper (also known as Big Red)
1 oz sweet vermouth
1/4 oz dry vermouth
1/2 oz sloe gin
2 dashes orange bitters

Pour the sweet vermouth, dry vermouth, sloe gin and orange bitters into an old-fashioned glass two-thirds filled with crushed ice. Stir well, garnish with a slice of orange, and serve.
