Now that Glee has created generated enough buzz to create an audience, the episodes are beginning to take us below the surface of the characters, showing us what makes them tick. This week we meet Will's parents (Victor Garber!), learn a bit more about Mercedes and Kurt, and get a peek into the testosterone-filled psyche of one of the future members of the glee club, Puck. (Spoiler alert: he's all about the cougars). There's also a particularly amazing cameo by one Josh Groban.
Of course, the episode was chock-full of singing and dancing, though most of the spotlight was on Mr. Schu and his "Acafellas" this week. Check out my thoughts and favorite scenes after the jump, and if you're a big fan of the show, join Whiplash's Glee Club Community group!
More highlights and video clips, so just read more.
- At first I was sad to see Mr. Schu turning his back on the glee club for the Acafellas, but man — those performances were classic. Loved the throwback to the early '90s hits like "This is How We Do It" and "Poison," but I have to wonder whether or not current high schoolers even recognize "I Wanna Sex You Up." Check out the performance, complete with New Kids on the Block style moves, below.
- Mercedes has always been one of the stronger members of the glee club, but last night we see her softer side. I felt for her when she tells Kurt "You busted my heart," though Kurt coming out to her by his locker was by far the episode's most emotional moment.
- Am I the only one who's kinda over the joke that the cheerleaders only wear their uniforms?
- Just because it needs to be mentioned: "The blogs are all atwitter." Love it.
- Ok, I kinda have a little crush on Josh Groban. I'm starting to believe that had he gone the acting route, he never would have garnered a reputation for being that dorky singer that moms love.
- The scene where Dakota Stanley goes down the glee line ripping the kids apart was one of my favorites — even if it was just a little too reminiscent of a classic moment in Bring It On. Check out the video below.
- Geeky confession #1: I've been following the whole cast on Twitter, and was happy to finally find out why Cory Monteith's handle is frankenteen. Geeky confession #2: I fully recognized Whit Hertford as Dakota Stanley from his days playing Stephanie's friend Walter on Full House.
What did you guys think of this week's episode? What was your favorite performance? Are you still loving every moment, or is the novelty starting to wear off? Sound off in the comments below!

Buzz, the videos are switched, fyi.
I totally recognized that guy from Full House, too. AND I also agree that the scene was very reminiscent of Bring it On.
Great episode, though. LOVE this show.
1I got way too excited when the Accafellas started singing "Poison!" I nearly fell off my bed in joy! LOL!
2I was seriously crying I was laughing so hard when the Accafellas were singing Poison.
I really love Kurt. I can't wait for him to get his own number- it's going to be so awesome.
3I love this show more and more each week! I love hearing them sing songs that bring my back to my high school days! So much fun!!
4Full House!!! I couldn't place him it, thank you!!!!!
Loved the episode as always!
5This is my favorite show on right now - love it!
6I love this show. I love the cheering coach's old school adidas tack suits. "Girls sniff your armpits. That is the scent of failure."
7I loved the pilot...but I am finding these next few episodes to be a little "off." I don't know what it is...maybe it's the editing and background music, the too numerous and out of thing air plotlines, or the lack of character development. I'm not going to stop watching, but I have not laughed out loud once or really felt drawn to be "dying to see next weeks" or to watch an episode over again and again....I just can't pinpoint what it is though?
8I totally Gleeked out at "Frankenteen" too! I thought I was the only one who caught it, I'm glad I'm not! Awesome episode.
9I figured I'd give the show a chance last night, and I LOVED it! I can't wait to see more!
10I totally caught the whole Frankenteen too! hilarious. i also feel though that the show seems a bit off. there are some bigger issues, but the little things (like the cheerleading uniforms) really get to me. For instance, there is no way in hell that the acafellas could get away with singing "I Wanna Sex You Up" at a PTA meeting. That was just ridiculous.
11Am I the only one who was totally bored with this episode? I was disappointed
12I recognized Whit Hertford as the little boy in Jurassic park that Alan freaks out with the Velociraptor claw!
13I love this show! As soon as I finish watching an episode, I want to go back and watch it again.
14It was an okay episode... but I LOVED Josh Groban! And Victor Garber's so good. His character says he wanted to go to law school but never had the guts, but Victor's played a lawyer in so many tv shows/movies (ex. Legally Blonde, Eli Stone), it's just so out of character for him lol.
15This was the best episode yet and that's saying a lot since I am so in love with the show! I didn't think it would get much better than Acafellas singing Poison, until they started singing I Wanna Sex You Up! Could Matthew Morrison be any hotter? And I am a New Kids on the Block fan so I was thrilled to see the moves that were extremely reminiscent of The Right Stuff moves!
I follow the entire cast myself! I just wish that Matthew would get his butt on there! He is
my favorite cast member and he needs to tweet a little
16I too caught the Frankenteen comment and squealed in joy to find out that was the reason Cory used that for his twitter name
I loved this episode, but I'm excited for the focus to go back on the kids. I find them more endearing than the Acafellas...they should pop up with a 90's classic again once in awhile, though.
17im still feeling disappointed.
18LOVED IT. the music/dance scenes literally make me "lol". i'm glad they do modern stuff as well as 80/90's.
19I didn't like this episode as much as the first two, but it was still pretty good. I didn't recognize the "Poison" song, and I wasn't into Color Me Badd so the "I Wanna Sex You Up" scene didn't do anything for me. I loved seeing Victor Garber on the show, although I wish he had a chance to sing! The Acafellas group was a cute idea, but I wanna see more of the actual Glee Club next week!
20Oh, and Josh Grobam was hilarious!
I was trying to figure out who the actor was that played Dakota Stanley...thank you for pointing out that he was Walter from Full House! I recognize him now.
21"Who's Josh Groban? Kill yourself!" LOL. Hilarious!!!
22Josh Groban loves blousy alcoholics. BEST THING EVER.
23I loved it.
