Up until today, there was just a grainy bootleg version of the trailer for goofball comedy Be Kind Rewind that someone covertly (or, not so covertly, since it says "Shhh I wasn't supposed to tape this! Hee hee..." before the footage) videotaped at Comic-Con where the trailer was screened. Now there's a legit trailer for all to enjoy, and enjoy it I do.
I'm not sure where I am on the topic of Jack Black. I loved him in High Fidelity, but quickly grew tired of him in School of Rock. This trailer, however, looks like the comedy is a collaborative effort with a lot of funny moments for Mos Def and not too-too much of Black's obnoxiousness. The supporting cast includes Danny Glover, and Mia Farrow. The movie follows video store employees Jerry (Black) and Mike (Mos Def) whose videos all become erased. To appease the customers, the duo shoot brief, low-budget versions of the original movies (like Driving Miss Daisy, pictured), which then become major hits in the community.

i think it looks funny, and i loved that director in eternal sunshine. hopefully they release it somewhere near me
limited release, great! this means i'm going to have to hunt down a theater that will screen this movie. i've always been impressed with Mos Def acting, and somehow Jack Black doesn't bother me at all. in fact School of Rock is actually one of my favorite movies.
School of Rock is cute, but this seems more like a "nothing going on for a Saturday afternoon and this is on tv" type thing.
I have to say, when I read the premise I thought it would be stupid, but the trailer looks really funny!
Mos Def is freaking adorable. If he'd been in Nacho Libre it might have been tolerable.
Cute idea for a movie and, from the trailer, it looks as though it works. I'll probably wait for the DVD but want to see it for sure.
wow, I was laughing more than I thought I would at the trailer! Yes, Mos Def officially rocks (he only "kind of" rocked after I saw him in Hitchhiker's...) and over the years I've actually become a bit of a fan of Jack Black. Not so much when he's doing the stupid loud yelling humour but when he shows a bit of humanity in his roles and has the sense to hold back (the type of thing that Steve Martin, Will Ferrel, Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler and others managed to do well).
i wasn't expecting much when i clicked on the trailer preview, but i really enjoyed it... i'm definitely going to see it, i liked how the director filmed eternal sunshine so i can't wait.. it looks like a smart funny movie, rather than the typical jack black movies. (even though, he does tend to be one of my guilty pleasures
heeheehee
i liked mos def in 16 blocks hehe
yay mos def! i loved him in brown sugar especially! looks like a good one to rent.
yay mos def! i loved him in brown sugar especially! looks like a good one to rent.
I loved Mos Def in Hitchhiker's Guide...(I'm a huge Douglas Adams' fan!), and actually liked Nacho Libre, so I think these two together will be very interesting!! Besides, the trailer looks funny.
Mos Def is SOOOO awesome, and I just straight up love Jack Black. I was one of the nine people that loved Nacho Libre. Plus "Eternal Sunshine" is one of my all-time faves... so this was already at the top of my must-see list, and the trailer did not disappoint. Thanks for posting this Buzz!
michel gondry is sooo amazing, i'll watch anything he makes. this one looks fantastic!
I'm so bloody excited for this movie! Partially because it looks hilarious, but mostly because I have a huge crush on Paul Dinello (Strangers With Candy, The Colbert Report), who plays one of the lawyers. It's a small part, so I'm really glad he made it into the trailer - just before the two minute mark
its dumb but funny
i love Mos Def
A little weary of the actual plot, but it looks cute and creative, which is exactly what all these guys are good at, especially film-maker Michel Gondry. I too have a little thing for Paul Denillo, he's definitely underrated!
this looks really good lol
