Summer's not even over yet, but once you pack away those swimsuits, the holidays are just around the corner. Disney is already gearing up for the season with a brand new trailer for A Christmas Carol, but the preview isn't exactly packed with warm fuzzies and cheer.

We get another peek at a craggy, crotchety Scrooge (voiced by Jim Carrey) in his nightgown as he's haunted by three spirits. In fact, there is so much focus on the ghosts we've come to know so well that I'd almost think a Halloween movie was being advertised instead. Back in May, most of you said you were excited about another version of the classic, but I'm not so sure. I love anything that gets me in the spirit (and I'm a big Jim Carrey fan to boot), so hopefully there's more to this movie than what I'm seeing in this trailer. Maybe I'm the only one feeling "bah humbug" though — check it out for yourself after the jump.
To see the trailer, just read more.

Hmm. Not sure I'm sold on this animation style yet.
1I saw a preview for this recently and am SO excited. This is one of my favorite Christmas stories and it looks like it is going to be very nice visually. My only concern is that I will keep imagining The Grinch doing the voice of Scrooge.
2Can't wait to see this! One of my favorite stories of all time. And I love Gary Oldman's voice
3And Buzz, the actual Dickens story isn't exactly packed with warm fuzzies and cheer either. It's actually a very, very sad story.
4Sorry to say this, but if you think that the movie is going to fill you with "warm fuzzies" just because it has Jim Carrey in it, you're totally wrong. Have you even read the source material? It's not funny and lighthearted. PS, the story IS all about the ghosts.
Also, this is the most technologically advanced animated movie to date. I think you'll be surprised at the quality of the effects if you check it out.
5I can't wait to see it! It looks good.
6Like was mentioned above, I think it's time you take a look at the *real* story again, not the fluff you've been handed by the tv/movie industry so far.
This story is quite literally the original Scared Straight. It is scary, sad, disgusting, and ultimately uplifting. Does that make it not your kind of Christmas story? Either way, Dicken's wrote a story that has lasted far long than you, I or Bill Murray ever will.
I hope this will finally bring back the true intensity of the original tale--from the previews so far, it looks like it won't disappoint!
7i'm pumped about this...it should be awesome.
8Ugh. I hate when inept people are allowed to review movies. Just cause Mickey made a Scrooge flick doesn't mean it has anything to do with the REAL story. Bah humbug to you, Buzz.
9Why don't you wait until you've seen the whole thing before casting judgment?
