The 2009 VMAs are on Sunday, and music videos are never really the thing you end up tuning in for. This is MTV, and as usual the network is pulling out all the stops to encourage us to watch. Last year's charming yet raunchy host Russell Brand will be back, probably with Britney, and the almost-certain upcoming jabs at Twilight are just the beginning. Here are a few other reasons to check it out:
- The airing of the trailer for This Is It, the Michael Jackson documentary.
- Janet Jackson's musical tribute to her late brother: I have high hopes for this to be both epic and moving.
- Twilight reigns: A new New Moon trailer will be unveiled at the awards, and Death Cab For Cutie will be performing their new song from the soundtrack, "Meet Me on the Equinox."

- The showdown between Lady GaGa and Beyonce: the ladies will face off in a few categories, including Video of the Year and Best Female Video.
- The performances: Jay-Z, Green Day, Beyonce, and GaGa are all going to rock the stage.

2I'm with both of you, I'll probably watch the MJ tribute by Janet and change the channel to True Blood.
3I will be watching it and taping it on VHS. Yes, VHS. Because that's how I roll. Don't have HBO or Showtime anymore because I moved out, in college now woop woop! So I can't watch my favorite shows like Dexter, Californication, True Blood, etc. Damn missed whole 3rd season of Dex, most 2nd season of Cali, and mostly all of True Blood. What is going on I am sooo behind???!!! Grr...
As for the VMAs... the Janet Tribute is gonna be hot, come on rehearsing 15 hrs a day! You KNOW it will be hott. Lady Gaga should beat Beyonce, I'm sorry but Bey it's time to sit your a** down for a little while, let somebody else shine, and truly Lady Gaga does right now..
Vid of The Year should go to Bey in a way though, just because of all the craze she caused with "Single Ladies". Gaga can get it too, but Jay-Z might make sure his wife wins everything.... is the fix in? I'll tune in to find out (and see if I'm right...)

I really hope Single Ladies wins everything because this was Beyonce's year, and that video is really-technically-the best most stylish and interesting and well-crafted video nominated. Also, beyonce--after such an amazing career--still hasn't won Video of the Year; Britney, Christina and even Rihanna all have...it's Beyonce's turn!

I like Lady Gaga's songs BUT NOT HER VIDEOS! many should go to Beyonce even though i guess it is a bit tiring but if you're good you're good and should keep on getting the goodies until someone surpasses.
