I was trying to take a break from writing about Peter Jackson's screen adaptation of The Lovely Bones, but the cast just keeps expanding. In fact, I think we can officially start calling it "star-studded" now.
The latest news is that Michael Imperioli of "The Sopranos" has signed on to the movie. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Imperioli — who got five Emmy nominations, including one this year, during his time on "The Sopranos" — will play Detective Len Fenerman.
Susan Sarandon also has joined the cast since last I wrote, playing the character of the grandmother who moves in with the family after Susie's death. I know casting isn't all about looks, but I really can picture Rachel Weisz as her daughter.
While the pre-review of the screenplay still makes me wary, I have to say I like the way the cast is coming together. What do you think?

im so SO beyond excited for this movie. the book is amazing and the casting thus far is perfect. i cant WAITTT for this movie to come out
1OOOOHHHHH I can't wait. I loved this book.
2
for Susan Sarandon (and Rachel Weisz) being in it!
3i dont recall a grandmother in the book
4So far, the casting has been wonderful. The addition of Susan Sarandon is a real plus.
5Yeah, Flutterpie the wife's mom did show up in the book. I think after the wife split.
The casting is great so far for this.
6So far so good! I loved this book and I'm getting very excited about the movie! Thanks for keeping us updated!
7these new additions seem great! but im still mad about ryan gosling playing the father. oh well. i hope this comes together well, i loveddd the book
8so far im loving the cast - i just hope the movie does the book justice. the grandmother is in the book a good amount- she does makeovers for her daughter and for lindsay & she's an alcoholic (i think) but anyways just very opposite from her own daughter. and yes she does stay with the family when the mother leaves.
9I LOVED this book! I haven't seen the other casting choices so I'll have to look it up. I hope they do it justice!
10yeah, i don't remember the grandmother either. i need to pull it out and read it again, it was so good and i've been meaning to do that. both of these sound good. anytime sarandon cries on screen i cry. these adds sound awesome, and there are always rewrites.
11I don't like casting for the movie except these two and susie cause I can't see rachel and ryan being her parents or even together maybe after they show some pics I will agree
12I'm really excited for this movie. And I can definitely see Susan Sarandon as the grandmother!
13I love most of the casting so far, except Rachel. I just can't see her.
14i could see susan sarandon as rachel's mom for sure! this is going to be such a good movie, i can feel it!
15hmm, this casting is all really weird. i mean, susie dies at 14. her parents are in their 40s or, at the youngest, late 30s. ryan gosling does not look this old. nor does he fit the description of the dad at all. the grandmother is old. i don't think susan sarandon works. i don't know. i'm sure the movie will be good, but these casting choices have me raising my eyebrows.
16I am not liking Ryan as the father- just as others stated, he isn't old enough. I think Susan will be great. The grandmother has a significant role after Susie dies and after the mom leaves. I still want to hear who they'll cast as the Susie's sister. The girl who will play Susie looks like Dakota Fanning, SO I really hope they don't get Dakota (so their is a resemblance) IMO
17Man! I cannot wait for this movie!! Ryan Gosling as the dad though...hmmm..to young, no?
18I'm so excited for the movie! Coincidentally, I just finished the book when I heard the news that a movie was being made.
