When I first heard that DJ Mark Ronson was planning to remix Bob Dylan's "Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)," it seemed like a very good fit. The often under-appreciated track from 1966's Blonde on Blonde has a catchy beat and brass-laden hooks that make it ripe for a remix. (The same could be said for Elvis's "A Little Less Conversation," which was famously remixed by Junkie XL in 2002.)
Thanks to Stereogum for pointing me toward a snippet of the "Most Likely You'll Go Your Way" remix online at Dylan07.com. So far, I'm liking what I hear — the saxophones and brass really do pull the more modern sound together. Check out Mark Ronson's album "Version" too. Its been on repeat on my iPod for a week! I especially like the version of "Toxic" with ODB and Tiggers as well as the Amy Winehouse remake of "Valerie"! Its def road-trippin music.
1there is a live version of this song (maybe from Biograph?) that Dylan did in the mid-70's and it is incredible. he's so angry and fierce on the live version. can't say i like a re-mix, but i don't like anyone messing with my bob or my beatles!
2I love that remix.
3Dylan is awesome, and I'm really pleased to see BuzzSugar appreciates "Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)."
I actually love the version of that song from Dylan's '74 live album, "Before the Flood." It's the opening track, and Dylan rocks on out, delivering the song with an energy much different than the Blonde on Blonde version (though I love that as well).
4I actually like the remix.
