Another of the many things I missed by not going to Comic-Con this year was a 5-minute preview screening of The Golden Compass. Thankfully, the clip is now online, and I'm so glad. There are flying witches, duty-bound polar bears, sassy daemons and Nicole Kidman acting more icy-cold than you've ever seen her. I love these books and I am dying to see this. But I hate how the preview shows Mrs. Coulter and Lord Azreal about to kiss. Sort of ruins a part of the book. I don't know just one of those things.

Looks great!
A couple of things bugging me that aren't of great importance.
1) Mrs Coulter's daemon didn't seem creepy enough. Plus, I seem to remember it being a spider monkey not a fuzzy rusty coloured thing.
2)I kinda wished they'd called it 'Northern Lights' instead, even if simply for the British release.

I'm really excited for this movie! The books are an awesome read! The books are called His Dark Materials trilogy (by Phillip Pullman) and include The Golden Compass (aka Northern Lights), The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass.

Loved reading the books. Went through them quickly and one right after the other. I've been looking forward to this movie for a while. Visually it looks amazing, especially Iorek Byrnison. Am not sure about the daemons, need to see more. Was very disappointed by the casting of Nicole Kidman. Am unsure about Daniel Craig but am willing to give him a chance. The young actress, Dakota Blue Richards, comes off well in this clip. They will make the other two if this one really hits well.

I'm nervous that they are going to butcher the books because guess what? They took out all of the references to God in the movies so they wouldn't offend anyone. That makes me a little angry.

I think I need to get these books...

I know that Eva Green is in this too, and I could see her every now and then in the clip, but her little voice-over part was very nice Smiling
